And exactly when besides 1992 did this happen? I seem to remember the championship constantly being locked up at Rockingham or Phoenix just about every year. I only remember it even getting to Atlanta in 1992.

If the Chase has done anything, its ensure that the championship always gets decided when the checkered flag falls at the end of the last race. It's happened every time since 2004.
