First off, I think they need to bring it back to 10 drivers. 10 drivers. 10 races. it's brilliant. the only reason nascar went to 12 is because poor old dale jr didn't make the chase. so what. if your favorite driver doesn't perform well and can't make the top 10 after 26 races, he doesn't deserve to compete for the title. idc if it's jr, stewart, kahne, harvick, gordon, kyle busch, or bill engvall. if they're not in the top 10 after 26, they don't deserve a shot to be in the chase and compete for the title.

secondly, def. need to move races around in the schedule every year. maybe throw watkins glen in the chase...and def. bring back darlington for a second race. give vegas a second date in the chase...bring back rockingham. I'd love to see all those tracks in the chase. Mix it up a little bit.

thirdly, and it's just a maybe...but nascar could consider giving the chase drivers their own points system. like they get w/e many points for where they finish among the chasers, not the entire 43 driver field. that could help ensure that someone who dominates a season and has some bad luck in the first 2-3 races doesn't fall completely out of contention
