Dear Sim Racing Design community,
After much consideration, and evaluating, how SRD is percieved and how SRD has been operated, we have decided it's time to let all of you dedicated members know what our philosophy is and our goals for next year are. I think it it's clear we aren't your average sim painting site looking over our statistics for the year. We are a little bit of a sim racing community forum and also a sim racing design site all mixed in together to form what we have now which I think is still a positive for the sim racing community in general. In saying that, I am sure some people have already mini vomited in their mouth that we are tooting our own horn that we are some great website and our stuff doesn't stink. I am here to say that this is far from the truth. I have said, and some of the staff has said some things, and done some things this past year that would make anyone want to take a flame thrower to this place. We are far from perfect and we make mistakes just like everyone else in the world does. There has been some hurt feelings and bruised ego's on SRD's staff, namely me, and we have done our fair share of hurting some feelings as well. To those people that I (we) have pissed off or hurt their feelings, I (we) apologize. I am here today to tell you that this mentality comes to an end tonight. This community was built by the people for the people of the sim racing community, with no attachments to a certain area of sim racing. We always strived for being a neutral site that supports any and all sim racing games. However, our site is still dominated by one particular game, and I think you guys know what game I am talking about. There have been groups of individuals that have come together to make Mod's for nr2003 since Sierra/Papyrus stopped supporting it. Over the years the community has slowly been divided into smaller and smaller groups, and a lot of petty, jealous (insert superlative here) arguments have dominated the landscape of the sim racing community. For the most part we have avoided much of this at SRD, but this past year I have put SRD right in the middle of the (insert your superlative here) arguments. Some people like to call this the politics of sim racing. It's all the stuff you here about from a 3rd party that, "he said this, were doing that, well I am doing this because of that." I am telling you all, I am just as guilty as anyone else for this behavior this past year. I never got involved with the "politics" of the sim racing community before this year, and I wish I never did. But as they say, "it is what it is". The politics is over at SRD. No longer am I, or anyone affiliated with this website, be telling any member at this website (that means you guys ), what he or she can ask for, request for, or criticize for. We aren't here to tell you or imply to you that "this mod" or "this website" is better than someone else for "this" reason. It end's tonight. On the subject of criticizing..... I would like to offer up this solution to all of you. There is a clear difference in constructive criticism, and bashing another website or mod, or paintjob etc.... We encourage opinions and criticism, none of us can get any better at our craft without it But SRD well not tolerate any more bashing of another website or mod maker or site artist etc... If you have a problem with said person or website, you take it to p.m. You can give an opinion or critique, we encourage it, but give the opinion as if you were standing right in front of the individual with their Mom standing next to him. I am the worlds worst at not doing as I just described, I always say what I feel and say it however I please without the fear of how it has effected the other person. So not only is this going to take some work for some of you, but it's going to take some work from me too. So I am with ya when you say "man this isn't going to be easy to do". lol! So can we all agree that this is a better way of dealing with the b.s that dominates the community as of late? Now on to the important stuff ![]() What are our goals for next year? The most important to me personally is finally getting the tutorials forum up and running. I have been talking about for a year now, and I want this to happen in the worst way. More will be discussed at a later time on this, but for now, you guys can know that this is going to happen and there is going to be some really cool stuff in it. Another goal is we are going to be putting out a 2010 COT ,Trucks and Nationwide carset. These will all be done to our usual mods we have been painting for in the past. I know most of you are saying, what about so and so's mod? Why not those? Simply put, we have already been preparing for next year with the mods we have been painting for already, and we are going to follow that plan into next year. We don't have enough helping hands to cover all the mods that are out now. We aren't taking any sides or putting our flag down so to speak with 1 particular mod. We are just going to continue to use the same mod's we have always painted for in the past. That means ss.net's 1.04 mod, Team Omega's truck mod, and the PWF Nationwide Mod. There is still plenty of other sites that will paint or make things for "so and so's mod" Maybe down the road we will revisit our options, but for now this is our plan. Besides the car and trucks, we are working hard at providing more add-on's such as cockpits, gauges, and various other artwork for next year. So please stay tuned for updates starting with the new year. We think it is going to be an exciting 2010! Last edited by Matt O'Reilly; 12-24-2009 at 03:28 PM.. |

Very cool Matt, Im new here as of fall 2009, Ive just been downloading all of the cars for the nr2003 COT mod, I don't check the 'threads' until today and I don't even know if this message will post or not. I hope you guys intend to put the 2010 COT car set in the .rar file format to download as in the past sets and individual cars, I cannot figure out why a car in a .tga file does not work, or how i cannot import a .tga to a car in nr2003. Do you have anything to explain this?
