The Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 is one of the world's most famous sporting events, sitting alongside the likes of the great Monaco F1 Grand Prix, the Indianapolis 500, the Daytona 500 and the Le Mans 24 hour. The Armor All Gold Coast 600 is quickly rising to a similar stature with 28 international drivers joining the field as co-pilots, including the likes of Sebastien Bourdais, Helio Castroneves, Dan Wheldon, Tony Kanaan and Aussies Will Power and Ryan Briscoe who are household names in the US. Both live telecasts will be promoted extensively not only on SPEED but also on its parent FOX network through News Corporation's wide array of multi-platform US-based sports assets. It follows the announcement in June that V8 Supercars will race at the Circuit of the Americas in Texas from 2013, a first for any Australian sport to hold a Championship or points scoring event on American soil. Bought damn time. Wonder if they're gonna show all 6hrs of Bathurst or if I'm still gonna have to find a stream to see the entire race.

Bathurst is 14hrs ahead of Eastern US time, which means that with the race starting at 9:30am Local time it would be starting well in about 10mins from the time I'm posting now which would be 7:30pm Eastern US time. I hope they end up showing Qualifying live too, it's Friday at 1:30pm Bathurst time which would make it 11:30pm Eastern US time.

Hopefully we get a proper pre-race/grid-walk too.

Bathurst is the weekend of October 6th - 9th
Gold Coast is the weekend of October 21st - 23rd.

F1 is in Japan from the 6th to the 9th so I doubt Speed would send Varsha or Buxton to Australia for Bathurst, though with Speed recently rehiring Peter Windsor for F1 (though his new role is online articles), I could see them sticking him in Buxtons place for that weekend just to American viewers have a familar face on the grid in Bathurst.

Though it'll probaly just end up being their Grand-Am or LeMans 24 broadcast team.... Through for some ungodlly reason I have a feeling they'll try to send DW or Mikey over there to cover it for us... haha

That's pretty cool. This series has been one of my personal favorites for the past couple of years. I like the exposure that the series is getting here.

FINALLY! I've been wanting to watch V8 Supercar races. Fell in love with the series over the summer. Wish we could get the full season coverage but I'll compromise.

Both theses races plus the one at Philip Island in September are awesome to watch. I only leave the tv if I have to. This is great news for every motorsport fan in the U.S

The series expanded overseas to places like China and Abu Dhabi, so maybe its not beyond the impossible that some day we could see them tour to the west coast of the US... ok probably not anytime soon but something they could aim for.

For the 2013 season they are holding a race weekend at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.

Wow thats great Fisha, I had no idea! Clealy Ive not had my finger on that pulse this season.

Here's hoping that the Aussie V8's and the F1 race for Texas 2012 are a 'success' for both the organisers and the series. Looking forward to it!

Good news, Phillip Island was one of the best races of the year in any series let alone V8's. Hopefully The Mountain and Gold Coast will be the same.
