Now I'm not one for spreading rumours, but sources are saying that RYR sold Hendrick the #88 for Jr.'s car. And its all but official about Pepsi-Co's sponsership. And if Gatorade would be chosen as the main sponser this would open up the opportunity to bring back DW's old Gaterade #88 paint scheme from the late 70's! I think it would tranfer pretty good to the COT(it looks old school anyway).
So all you painters lets see what you can come up with. |

Well with retro style being in right now and the COT having a old style appearance it just would make a cool scheme(and a cool collectable). Ok if not as the primary scheme how about for the All-Star race next May?
As far as why Jr, would want to run that scheme is he's a big fan old old school NASCAR, hence the reason his production company produces Back in the Day. |

If your refering to the rivalry (or the just plain hatred between each other) between Earnhardt Sr. and Waltrip in the '70's and '80s I'm fully aware of what went on back then. but I also know that Sr. had become friends both on and off the track with Waltrip later in their careers. Dale even put Darrell in the #1 car when Park got hurt, even when there were better drivers he could have put in there. I just like throw back schemes, and the # and possible sponsership just got me thinking--thats all.
Well it doesn't matter anyway the Sponser's going to be Mountain Dew/AMP P.S. Hey didn't DW drive for Mountain Dew too. ; ) Last edited by DE3; 09-15-2007 at 07:48 PM. Reason: can't spell |

Yes. DW drove for Montain Dew as well.
I'm happy for Jr. in all of this. I think he'll be able to step out of the shadow of his father and become his own driver now. He'll actually be competitive for races and champsionships in the years to come. As for the #88's scheme? We'll see tomorrow at 1:30.
