Not sure if any of you are drag racing fans, but I sure am. Today, 2 time Top Fuel champion Scott Kalitta, 46 unfortunately lost his life doing what he loved best.
He was on his 4th and final qualifying run when his car burst into flames. He lost control, and hit the wall at the end of the strip at a reported 300 miles per hour. NHRA, and the world lost a great man today.. ![]() Scott Kalitta.. 1962-2008

ESPN showed the replay and it was brutal.

Oh, yes it was.. It had to be one of the most horrific motorsport death crashes I have seen in my life.

That crash was incredible. I've seen the body fly off, car erupt in flames, but I have NEVER seen a car just detonate in the shut-down zone like that.
It was like a bomb went off or something. I'd really be interested to know the cause there. At least the man went out doing what he loved. RIP Scott

Quote:
No kidding, the engine eruption looked bad enough, then the car exploded.. Man.. However, it is fitting that he lost his life on the track he debuted.
