People did expect too much...they expected it to be what they wanted it to be.

And not only "casual fans" and "small kids" will be playing this. It can still be fun and addicting for everyone. Hell I have fun playing Mario Kart on the Wii and that's far from anything real.

But I'm not sure if it's the best console game we have...D2D is pretty much the "NR2003" of console Nascar games in my book.

I definitely have to agree with this. D2D was fantastic!

I guess a lot of us expected a lot out it because we see the insanely realistic games that come out for PS3 and 360 every year, yet we STILL can't seem to get a realistic stock car console game. It's really frustrating, especially since we get a new FPS on store shelves every week. While Codemasters seem to able to put out pretty good console racing titles, every other developer is worried about arcadey crap. Annoying, it is!

And, if I'm going to pay $60, I sure as heck better be getting something that's worth it.

This game is OK. Better than what EA gave us the last few years. The game has issues but some will be fixed in the patch, some will be fixed in NTG2012, and some I can live with. I'm just happy we have a good console game. The game is not perfect but it is still fun to play and it is a great first effort by Eutechnyx.

Just finished attempting a 100 lap race at Daytona and I really didn't notice anything to make this an awful, terrible, epic failing and sucking game. In my first attempt I was able to push Kyle Busch away from the rest of the field for about 13 laps until I lost his bumper and hit him coming off the corner causing me to spin down pit road and get black flagged. After I restarted, the AI crashed on the backstretch. On the restart I got behind Kyle again but couldn't pull away from Jamie Mac and Harvick. Before I made the same mistake as before, I noticed Kyle's bumper starting to be pushed in on the sides and my nose had scuffs on it. The racing is good when I have it on very hard. The AI are challenging and it is harder to start 43 and plow your way through the field to first in 10 laps.

There are some rough edges I admit, but even as a die hard racing fan myself, I got over the issues and enjoyed the game for what it is. It is their first attempt at a NASCAR game so it won't be the best of the best of the best.

I haven't done online yet. I'll probably wait to see if the xbox league is a no go or if it is still on before I play it. I did watch a video on youtube of an online race a Dega and really the only thing the dude didn't like was that if he messed up he couldn't catch back up to the leaders.

Online has been decent. I've raced 6 races, won 3, and had basically no lag issues. However I entered a 12 car race, watched everyone wreck on the pace laps behind me, then had my game freeze. Sound familiar?

Same for me, i've mostly raced online all day and had a few freezes. I really don't see a big problem with it, but it still needs some patch work.

Alright, I'll throw my hat into the mix. Look, guys, it's a console game, it's never going to be as good as a game like iRacing or NR2003. I see tons of comments, not necessarily here but in other places, comparing this game to those. It's wrong. I had a chance to play it last night. The Career mode is alright, a little simple but it works for me. Just have to be careful tho, one bump and you're gone! Haha. Now, the online racing was.. well, sometimes alright, sometimes bad. Especially at Daytona and Talladega. Like I said before, one tap too hard and you'll send someone spinning of flying! Also, one race, I was against the wall and spinning out before the race even began. Ah the wonders of lag. Anyway, this game has bugs, just like every other game ever made. As of right now, I'd rate it a 7 out of 10. If you're racing with people you know, it's just fine. I'm not a "fanboy" by any means, and frankly, I find that word hilarious. But, to make a long story short, if you're still thinking about getting it, wait until it drops in price, it's not worth the $60 as of now.

I just think that a full on sim on console is possible with the current technology existing with the 360 and PS3. Okay, so they want to satisfy hardcore and casual NASCAR fans. That's fine, but what about us hardcore simmers? We haven't had a good NASCAR game since 2003! And yes, with today's consoles, I believe it's fully possible. And while it wasn't a sim, Dirt to Daytona was probably the last great NASCAR game on console.
