2008 SRD NASCAR "Pick'em" Series (Game Information)

Alright, after a successful 2007 Chase Debut, with jgregorio72 taking the title, I wanted to see how everyone feels about doing "Pick'em" for the full '08 season.

If anyone needs to be refreshed on the weekly rules...

Each week you select the top five finishers in the particular race, the pole sitter, and the Busch and Truck winners, if they run.

You will earn points based on where your five drivers finished in the race.

If you pick the polesitter, its 10 bonus points, a correct pick for the Truck and Busch races earn you 15 bonus points.

If any of your drivers finish in the top 5, you'll get 5 points a piece.
If they finish where you predicted in the top 5, you earn 20 points a piece, with a correct Cup winner earning you 30 extra points.

Truck Winner: Kyle Busch (NO GOOD...possible +15)
Busch: Kevin Harvick (NO GOOD...possible +15)

Cup Pole: Kyle Busch (NO GOOD...possible +10)

1st: Greg Biffle (Finished 13th...+124)
2nd: Matt Kenseth (Finished 1st...+195...+5 (He put him in the top 5))
3rd: Martin Truex Jr. (Finished 6th...+155)
4th: Kurt Busch (Finished 2nd...+175...+5 (He put him in the top 5))
5th: Jimmie Johnson (Finished 7th...+151)

TOTAL: 810

Now as it worked in the Chase, your best 5 races counted towards your final point total. If we open it up for the full 36 (26 + chase), It will be a person's best 15 races during the first 26, with the top 10 (will vary depending on participation) point yielders getting into the chase.

This is how the chase format will work:

The top ten in points, based on their best 15 pre-chase races, get into the chase.

The points will be reset. Everyone will be set at 20000 points, with all of their bonus points added to that total. Their weekly average will be added in, as well. Additionally, points, decreasing by 10 from 100-10 from 1st to 10th, will be added based on points position heading into the chase.

Here are the other points added in:

-20 pt bonus per reg. season win
-To balance out the bonus points column (as people have more races than others), "buffer points" will be added.

Buffer points are total bonus points over races pre-chase, divided by total weeks entered, multiplied by the number of weeks short of 26 races.

For example...if someone has accumulated 450 points over 23 races, out of the 26 pre-chase events, their buffer point bonus will be 59 points.

Now, I am also considering handing out bonus points week to week, as was questioned last year, about the weekend finishing order of the entrants. We could do that, giving points out on a 40 (Best week point total), 40, 36...4 scale.
