Default What do you want to see in a NASCAR Sprint Cup Schedule?

With all the talks about whether or not Kentucky will get a cup date or if Pocono's distance should be shortened or what have you. What would you like to see different in the schedule. Keep in mind this is about the schedule of races, not the TV schedule.

I'd like to see Pocono lose a race, giving one back to the Rock. The Rock would take the April Texas slot, to cut down on cookie cutter tracks.

Darlington would shift to the June Pocono date, and Las Vegas to the Darlington May date. Then California would move one spot back from race 2 to race 3.

Then, give Homestead a second race, right after Daytona in Feb.

Also, add a third Road course by taking away California's second date. Shift the labor day race to Atlanta, and move the road course to the Atlanta date in the chase. For selfish reasons, I'd like to see it be Lime Rock...lol.

Maybe...it would be cool...take away the April Phoenix date and give it to Motegi, Japan...

good ideas Mike! I'm partial to Lime Rock as well.

Pocono should be 300 miles I think. And a New Hampshire race should be 400. One of the Talladega's should be 400 miles as well. Less night races as well, there is no need for Chicagoland to be under the lights.

Hmmm... I think I would like to see a 30 race schedule in which the season is divided into 3 sections. And then in each section there will be only 1 restrictor plate race (get rid of one of the Talladegas, even though Tally is my favorite race, lol), one road course race each (got to add another road course, hopefully a street course) and then for the rest of the tracks we only keep the tracks that Jr. and Gordon are good at. Yup. LOL. *just joking*

A regular season NASCAR race in Japan would be just nutty. I've been to Tokyo twice, and traveling there is not easy at all. If airfare costs don't kill you, the 16 hour time change will. Takes a good 2 weeks to recover from that.

Apart from that, well, I think NASCAR needs to get together with a meterology firm and avoid putting races during a rainy season or a period of oppressive heat as much as possible.

For example, the Feb California race is during SoCal's rainy season. Having rain that weekend is almost a guaranteed thing. It's not smart to have a race in SoCal then! Then, the Labor Day California Race is in September when it's VERY hot here! The area where the track is gets especially warm basically from now through September. The fans here aren't going to show up in droves when it's 100+ degrees and bottled water costs $4+. They just aren't. Doesn't have anything to do with the quality of the racing. People here aren't going to endure those conditions. They happen every year, they're very predictable. So I say NASCAR needs to put their heads together with meterologists who can advise them on predictable weather patterns for the country and work out a schedule that's best in terms of weather. Better weather = happier fans. Happier fans = a more successful race weekend for all involved.

I just want the Labor day race back at Darlington. I would also like to see another road race, but in the USA. Maybe Road Atlanta or Road America. That will probably never happen unless they make major renovations to their tracks. Maybe Pocono could widen their road course and run one of their races as a road race.

I can tell you what shouldn't be in the NASCAR Cup schedule:

California.

Here are some changes I'd like to see in the Sprint Cup schedule, but will probably never happen:

1. Get rid of California's Labor Day race and give it back to Darlington where it belongs.

2. Remove one of Pocono's races, and shorten the remaining race to 300 miles.

3. Remove Infineon from the schedule and move Las Vegas to Infineon's current date. I'm just not a fan of the road course races.

4. Give Rockingham the race date previously occupied by Las Vegas.

5. Get rid of Texas' April race, and give it to North Wilkesboro.

James

I'd like to see NASCAR run the street course at Long Beach the use for the celebrity race. I like the idea of Limerock, but how about running on Dirt. Since alot of NASCAR drivers moonlight on the dirt tracks, maybe a dirt race or two might not be a bad idea.
