He probably wanted Keselowski in the car, and, obviously, did not get his way..

Jason, I don't try to "stir" things with Jr. issues. I just say what I think, and move on.
From what he said about Jr., that is the first thing that came to my mind. I am probably wrong, but that's what I thought, and figured I'd put it out there. But I guess that when it comes to Jr., if its anything that maybe construed as negative, I should just keep my opinions to myself. I've never wanted to ruffle any feathers, I've been here long enough, and I'd never want to start something that could get out of hand. And I didn't think that that comment warranted being called "pathetic" or "manipulative". I just want to be in good graces.

I was not necessarily talking about your comment/opinion....this time. Even though if he was not for Mark Martin being the driver of the #5 full time, he would not have attended the News Conference with Jimmie Johnson as the only two Hendrick drivers to be there. He knows Brad needs more time in the Nationwide Series & probably would want him in his own Cup car if he decides to move up to that series at some point.
However, everybody needs to understand that no flaming of any driver will be allowed. This will not turn into a place where every other thread gets locked because of a lack of repsect for any driver. I have read a few threads where it could have easily have turned into that. Last edited by Jason Roush; 07-04-2008 at 10:58 PM. |

Okay, Jason. I just took it to pertain to my comment because you posted right after me, and you and I have had our back and forths about Jr., before.
But I totally agree with your statement. We don't want to end up locking thread after thread because of arguments. We cool?

I was just really surprised by Jr.'s interview. Granted he might have been disappointed about stubbing his toe or something right before the reporter walked up, but I would have expected news like Martin joining the team he drives for to be received a little more...optomism?

Again, if he was not for Mark being there why would he attend the Press Conference, why would he been seen talking & laughing with Mark during qualifying...why must people persist to read more into it than what there is, is the better question to ask here.

I'm not reading into anything, I'm just saying I was surprised at Jr.'s interview is all.
Is there anything to Jr.'s reaction? Probably not.

So Jr. did not do a cartwheel & the famous Carl Edwards backflip when the reporter asked him for his opinion. Who knows what was on his mind at the time. Jeff Gordon didn't act overly optimistic either when he was asked about it....he had answered in his same subdued voice. Like I said, if Jr. was not supportive & for Mark coming over, he would not have been at the conference & been seen laughing & talking to Mark during qualifying. Period, no story. |

If Jr was not for Martin driving for Hendrick next year I don't think he would because Mr. Hendrick listens to his drivers and wouldn't bring in a driver someone didn't get along with.
