I wouldnt be suprised if this happens this time around.
Next year Ganassi seems like he still wants to field two cars and Only two of the Waltrip cars have sponsorship for any period of time next year. That being the #00 Aarons Machine of Reuttiman and #55 NAPA machine of Waltrip. I think that Mikey may drop the #44 because it says that it would be a 4 car partnership. And with rumors of Gillett Evernham buying out the #22 things aren't looking good right now for Dodge. Sure they may possibly be gaining the #22 but as of right now that car has no sponsorship. Dodge would be losing its 2nd or third biggest team in the series if CGWFS were to switch manufacturers. Hopefully this made SOME sense haha.

If you think about it, Evernham makes a great move buying up the 22 team. Right now, the 22 is in the top 35 and will probably stay there. Although sponsorship is an issue, a car guaranteed for the first 5 races guarantees sponsorship for those first 5 races (at least in Evernham's garage).
As for Waltrip, he makes a good move grabbing up one more car with owner points assuring him 4 spots in the first 5 races if himself and mcdowell stay in the top 35. Montoya would probably be a force to reckon with if toyota gives waltrip a little more help for Juan to succeed. Right now, the 40 is dead and the 41 has lost it's driver so merging is the easiest thing to do right now

perhaps Reutimann goes to the NWS with Aarons then MCDowell goes to NWS or CTS montoya goes to the 41, Carpentier goes to the 42 and then CGWFS merges with MWR and they loose the 00, 40 and 44. so they have the 41,42,and 55???

Waltrip in the 55. Montoya in 42 or 44. Reutimann in the 00. Michael McDowell, Bryan Clauson share the car Montoya doesn't drive. As long as they have sponsors, which they will with Target and probably Fasental. But wouldn't Target and Aaron's be competitive. I think it is a good idea. Its another step close to 11 teams with four cars. Especially hearing the Gillette Evernham may buy BDR and go to Toyota because Dodge is just draining.

I think this is just more rumor and speculation than anything. Sometimes stuff just blows in the wind without much behind it, and I think this is one of those cases.
If Dodge was in such dire straights, I would expect to hear worries coming from teams like Petty and Penske as well.
