from Jayski:
# Hall of Fame Racing, JGR decide to remove Logano from #96: Joey Logano will no longer pilot Hall of Fame Racing's #96 Toyota in 2008, team co-owner Tom Garfinkel told ESPN.com Tuesday. Garfinkel said the decision was mutual between his team and Joe Gibbs Racing, for whom Logano is under a multi-year driving contract. "It's a joint decision," Garfinkel said. "We talked to Gibbs and both decided that, for [Logano's] development and for our team, this the best thing for all of us. The best thing for all of us is for them to focus on Joey's development, and us to focus on our team." Seeking to gain experience in preparation for his 2009 rookie campaign in Gibbs' #20 Toyota, Logano was scheduled to run five of the final 10 races of the current season in the Hall of Fame #96 -- a Gibbs satellite operation. He was to return to the #96 at Lowe's Motor Speedway next week, and also was scheduled to drive for Hall of Fame at Martinsville Speedway and Texas Motor Speedway. Sprint Cup veteran Ken Schrader will drive the #96 at Talladega Superspeedway this weekend, and likely the rest of the season. Joe Gibbs Racing officials were not immediately available for comment.(ESPN.com)(9-30-2008) Comment here Comments??

^ J.J. Yeley had been driving the #18 ever since Bobby Labonte left the team until this year, and went nowhere with it. Kyle Busch comes along and wins 8 races, meanwhile Yeley gets worse in a Gibbs-satellite Toyota team. Doesn't sound to me like Yeley was much of a solution to anything in either ride.
So the 96 team doesn't want to have a development driver. Understandable since Logano wasn't ever going to stay with that team anyway. Hopefully they can get with a driver who works well with them. IMO they never should have let Tony Raines go.

I think Kyle Petty would be a good fit at HOF, there are rumors that he is out at Petty Racing and I think he can still get the job done and if he can bring Wells Fargo with him that would be some additional sponsorship.

I just am not buying the whole Joey Lagano is the next best thing to come along in the series... I think the media has hurt him by tacking all that to his name. I think he is being pushed too fast by being in the #20 Cup car next year. He might benefit more from running the full '09 Nationwide series and then a few cup starts. |

while I agree with Showstopper in saying Logano is being rushed, but the 96 car hasn't been the best team since its inception in 06. They had the fuel mileage run at Sonoma in 2006 with Terry Labonte and thats about it. They need to work closer with JGR to get better. Keep Kenny Schrader in the car. And run a few races with Brad Coleman as well in 09. The team has potential they just need to work a little harder.

JOEY LOGANO BEST THING SINCE SLICED BREAD
Yeah right, with a second-rate team like HoF Racing, he's better off doing a full year at the Busch Series (next year) before moving up to Cup. |

personally i don't the the nationwide series is as key as it was anymore, send joey to the trucks for a year drivers who do more truck races seem to be better drivers IMO.
as far as joey being the next big thing i don't think so. i think we're gonna see better results outta scott speed within the next few years IF he gets to keep the ride

I seen that mayfeild could whind up in the 96 car for next season. Personally I think he would be a better fit for that ride then Petty (he's washed up). Schrader another one that is just out there to show the sponcer off. Brad Coleman a youth fit might be better but what has he done in the Nationwide series this year. Yelley just not a cup driver he was better in the Nationwide cars. My view on Lagono he needs more seat time and he is not ready for cup yet.

He qualified it 7th, and finished 21st at the night Bristol race. Schrader can still get stuff done in a race car. I would say he is the best choice over Mayfield and Kyle Petty. |
