Also, that's what the Chase was designed to do (see: Tony Stewart playing spoiler in the 2006 Championship by winning Kansas, Atlanta, and Texas) I would say put Darlington in the Labor Day slot, but it's hot weather all the time (then again, the first Southern 500 is hot as well). Note: Please read and obey our Forum Rules regarding profanity/defamatory statements. Thanks. Last edited by MattSRD28; 10-24-2008 at 04:34 PM.. |

Re Laguna Seca : I don't think it's too slow for cup cars. Other series (GrandAm's DPs, Champcar ... Toyota have even run the track in an F1 car) have ran the track perfectly well.
As for Corkscrew, it would be pretty hairy but many other sorts of car can run it perfectly well. It has adequate run-off facilities as it hosts MotoGP. There are several road courses gagging for a cup date - Laguna Seca, Lime Rock Park, Miller Park in Utah, Montreal and Mexico City could do cup dates. Maybe even a street circuit somewhere. Surely that would be better than duplicating some of the more boring "let's not design a new one, let's use a photocopier" tracks. |

Thanks Triadz
![]() I don't think that Laguna Seca is too slow for the cars, as Duke said, F1, Grand Am and the now defunct ChampCar series ran there. Also, as Duke said, the circuit has more than adequate run off areas, having hosted an F1 test. Also, the corkscrew in NASCAR would be its USP, a way to get new fans in. Also it'd be a unique challenge, during the recent ALMS event, the track was changing every lap with dust and sand on the track. EDIT: Nascar Busch Series ran Mexico City last two years canceled it due to attendance figures (afaik) |

Bit of a problem with PPIR : the sale contract (when ISC got rid of it) bans the circuit from holding anything at any real level - although it was NASCAR who owned the track in the first place. In the UK the competition commission would step in, but that is thread derailment!

The only change that needs to be done is get New Hampshire out of there and put darlington in. Other then that, there is not much more that anyone can do. The only way to get the chase exciting is to start Jimmie Johnson with 400 points less than eveybody. Leave the FORMAT alone!
