Hello I'm new and had a question. So i'm trying to download the entire 2008 COT Roster or cars so i can race with them in the SS.net mod. I've been downloading Roush and waltz's cars which look amazing on the website and i unzip them etc. Then try to cut them into the cars file. Is this the correct process or is there something else i need to do? Right now as is i am unable to see the cars in game. If anyone has advise on this let me know. Thanks

If you downloaded the cars, unzipped them, and place them in the series/COT/cars folder you are doing right. For them to appear in the races, you have to create a roster with the cars, on opponent manager in nr2003.

You do have the ss.net COT mod installed into nr2k3, right? This sites cars will not work with the SIModified COT mod (also known as the Dan Nisbet COT mod) nor will they work just by putting them in the original Cup mod. You specifically need the COT mod to use the COT cars.

Ok, so i do have the superspeedway.net mod downloaded and installed. but still when i download these cars then unzip them. Then i cut the .car file and place it in the Series/COT/cars file then start the game and go into the opponent manager and still cant find the cars. Maybe i'm missing a step. i dunno someone go through exactly what they did with what programs to get one of Roush's cars to work and race. I feel ignorant. Thank you

Tell me, are the other cars in your \series\COT\cars '.cup.car' or '.cts.car'? The only thing I can think of is that you might be using a version of the mod that uses truck physics rather than cup physics. If that's the case then you'll need to convert them. Check out Can't add cars to ss.net COT mod.

Yeah, what Walz said too. Also make sure when you go into opponent manager that the little box that says "Show only active drivers" does not have a check in it, if it does that will keep the cars from showing because you haven't yet made the new cars active. And what do you mean by "cut the .car file"? Depending on what that means that might be a problem. Oh, and don't feel ignorant, everybody had to learn. And besides ignorance is forgivable, it just means a lack of knowledge, and knowledge can be acquired. There's all sorts of things that I'm ignorant about, nuclear physics for example.

Thank you all very much for your patience and help. It turns out that the problem was that i wasn't putting both the zip file and the unzipped .car file in the Cars folder. This for some reason whatever it is caused them to not work but they do now thank you and i look forward to being an active member of this site. Maybe i'll download my car i made in CS2.

I'm glad you got it to work, but you only need the .car file in the cars folder for the car to pop up in the opponent manager list.
