The video games of the 1996 Toys "R" Us catalog

So many memories of a much simpler era.

Man, seeing some of those game covers brings back memories. And I saw Destruction Derby 2, as well. That still, to me, is one of the greatest console racing games (along with DD1) to ever be released.

I'm pretty sure I payed almost 75% less for each respective system than their prices in this catalog. Makes me have to realize, I'm not old, just a collector.

I remember the catalog.
They used to be a lot bigger and better a few years ago, then what they are currently.

I still have my dad's NES with R.O.B. the robot but I can't bring myself to open it, it's just too perfect.

Oh heck yes I had so much fun with the DD games when they came out!

Man I don't remember games being almost 1/4 of the systems cost. But you got more then a few hours out of them also. Compared to today's games.

I was informed by my parents that we had the same catalog over here, I apparently wanted every system and game. (I eventually was given a Game Boy which I still have packed away)

Now with emulators I can play what I want when I want

I've played on all of those systems and then some! I once found an Atari and over 100 games at thrift store for $30 so I picked those up and the Atari short-circuited after about 3 months...was pretty cool to play it though!

When I get home I'm digging out my CDs and reinstalling them through DOSBox. Yay

Ah. Sweet, sweet nostalgia . . . . .

I even remember seeing Tamagotchis being popular. Boy, did those both explode onto the market and disappear without a trace rapidly.

Looking at the catalog and my first thought...

"Modern gamers have no room to complain concerning game prices."
