im looking for two fonts.

both of which are in this image. the "Get in to the Zone" font and the Autozone font.
the one im really looking for is the "get in the zone" one....but i would also like to add the Autozone font to my stash of fonts.

You can go to "Abstract Fonts" and type it in....search through the thousands of fonts until you find something that resembles it...lol. I have done this and ended up finding many fonts I thought were cool and added them.

For the 'Get in the Zone' I'd suggest you look through the 'Typewriter' fonts at Abstract Fonts. I couldn't find just one font that met all of the criteria in the 'Get in the Zone' copy so I can't point you to just one. Scour through them and see if you like one (or more) of them more than the others. Given the end sizes we're dealing with in NR2K3, I doubt if anyone would be able to tell the difference. In this case...'close' may well be 'good enough'. As an aside, I never did find a font with that particular 'o' in it and the 'e's seem to be different from each other as well (although, it is a little difficult to tell given the crappy reference image ~ not your fault) which leads me to believe that either A: the text is made up of different fonts (not an uncommon practice) or B: it was hand-drawn.

As for 'AutoZone'...Nothing really springs to mind. It has some characteristics of several different fonts that I can think of but no single font, at least as far as I can tell, fills the bill. Again, this may be an instance of the logotype being created just for this one client. Auto Shack became AutoZone in 1988...just before the advent of computerized typefaces/fonts. When logos were still being designed by a graphic artist sitting at a drafting table. I know, I was one of them.

One thing that needs to be pointed out here...not everything out there is a 'font'. Companies pay good (and by that I mean exorbitantly high) money to have a logo or logotype designed for them. The design should set them apart from the competition and be readily recognizable. Someone sitting at a keyboard, picking a font and typing away isn't going to accomplish that. That's where the 'artist' part comes in to play.

It wasn't so much relaying the history of AutoZone (although you never said that you worked there so I had no way of knowing that) as it was a time frame as to when digitized typefaces/fonts were 1st coming on.

Sorry I couldn't be more help though.

Sage wasn't explaining the history of Autozone as he pointed out.

He was trying to teach/explain to you how a logo is made and what you may need to think about the next time you ask members for a font(s) for a logo that don't exist.
