Since they have seemed to become quite popular lately, I have also decided to jump into the mock season foray and give it a shot. Running the SIMcot Mod with the 2008 Sprint Cup Carset. Superspeedway and speedway races will be run at 25% length, while short-tracks and road courses will be run at 20%. A.I Strength will be set for ALL RACES at 98%.

2008 Daytona 500 (Daytona Beach, Florida)
Track: Daytona (stock version track with updated 3-wide racing .ini file)

    -Qualifying
Winning the 1st Coors Light Pole Award of 2008 with a fast lap 184.362 MPH, the #88 AMP Energy/National Guard Impala SS of Dale Earnhardt Jr. edged out Jeff Burton's lap of 184.159 MPH. Chevy drivers had speed at Daytona, with six Impalas qualifying in the Top-10. 2006 & 2007 NASCAR Nextel Cup Champion Jimmie Johnson qualified 8th with a lap of 183.918 MPH.

    -Race #1 of 36: 2008 Daytona 500
    [IMG]
Leading the field to the green flag, the Impala SS of both Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Jeff Burton take the first green flag of the 2008 season. Jr. would lead the first two laps, only to give way to the hard-charging #20 Home Depot Camry of Tony Stewart. With tight pack racing that promoted many lead changes, the drivers gave fans some thrilling action as they sliced and diced with each other for the chance to lead. The tight racing, however, lead to the pack coming off Turn 2 4-wide on Lap 3, which caused....

    The Big One #1: Lap 3 (#15, 48, 77, 38, 83, 55, 45, 7, 21, 22, 00, 70, 17 Crash on Backstretch)

Coming off Turn 2 on the outside of a 4-wide situation, the #15 Menards Impala SS of Paul Menard was squeezed into the outside wall by the 2-time defending champion Jimmie Johnson, sparking the first major wreck of the year and the first flip of 2008, with Brian Vickers in the #83 Red Bull Camry flipping eight times. Of all of the drivers involved, only the Chargers of Kyle Petty, Robby Gordon, and the Impala SS of DEI teammates Paul Menard & Mark Martin were able to continue on with light to moderate damage.

-Restart #1 (Lap 8: Tony Stewart leads Kyle Busch and Martin Truex Jr to the green flag)

    -The Big One #2: Lap 15 (#24, 2, 42, 1, 99, 01, 07, 1, 11, 29, 66 Crash in Turns One/Two)
When the pack roared into Turn 1, Jeff Gordon and Kurt Busch snagged fenders, sending the #24 DuPont Impala SS into a spin and thus sparking the 2nd major crash of 2008, wiping out several front runners that had led laps earlier in the race. Of the cars involved, only Juan Pablo Montoya, Jeff Gordon, Denny Hamlin, and Regan Smith were able to continue in The Great American Race.

-Pit Stops: Lap 16 (Jeff Burton wins race off pit road)
-Restart #2 (Lap 18: The #31 Cingular Wireless Impala SS of Jeff Burton leads the field to the green)

For the rest of the race, the pack would continue their tight quarters racing, with the lead exchanging hands several more times before lap traffic became a major factor in the outcome of the race. The Dodge Charger R/T's of both Ryan Newman and Elliot Sadler managed to separate themselves from the pack when the slower lapped cars of Robby Gordon, Regan Smith, Kyle Petty, and Mark Martin found themselves being swallowed by the lead pack around Lap 25. Newman would later break away from Sadler with the help of more lap traffic on Lap 37 and by the time the majority of the pack managed to clear all of the lap traffic and resume proper chase of Newman, the #12 Alltel Charger had checked out by over nine seconds.

-Checkered Flag: Ryan Newman wins the 2008 Daytona 500 (Average Speed: 146.902 MPH)
Dominating the race in the aftermath of the 2nd big crash of the day, Ryan Newman powered to the lead with the help of Elliot Sadler's #19 Best Buy Charger and never looked back, leading 22 of the 50 laps and maintaing a nearly 5-second lead over the #5 of Casey Mears and #19 of Elliot Sadler, who managed to hang on to the back end of Mears and pull back away from the rest of the field behind them as they became ensnared in lap traffic. Tony Stewart and rookie Patrick Carpentier rounded out the Top-5. 17 of the 42 cars that started finished on the lead lap, with the battered Chevy of Jeff Gordon managing to finish ahead of winner Ryan Newman. Daytona 500 Polesitter Dale Earnhardt Jr. finished a distant 11th, leading 2 times for 4 laps. The lead changed hands 17 times among 12 different drivers, with Newman leading the most with 22.

    Top-5 + Notables:
    1. R. Newman #12 Alltel Charger R/T (50 Laps)
    2. C. Mears #5 Kellogg's Impala SS (50 Laps)
    3. E. Sadler #19 Best Buy Charger R/T (50 Laps)

I know...personally I think it is kind of neat how the game seems to be getting the race winners from the real 2008 NSCS season correct. It has been seen multiple times in other threads, and it happened again tonight with mine.

Ya in my 2006 mock season I only had one real-life winner and that was Jimmie Johnson at Las Vegas.

Will have the 2008 Auto Club 500 up by tomorrow afternoon. Here is a sneak peek at one of the massive crashes that took six contending cars out of the race when both Matt Kenseth and Greg Biffle snagged fenders coming out of Turn 4 during a mid-race pit cycle, slamming both cars into the wall and flipping them over in front of multiple cars.

Unfortunately, I did not save the results of the race pictured above due to a mistake on my behalf. I have since re-run the race again this morning, and it will be posted below soon.

Track: California Revamped 2009 (Day) (with Revamped/Reloaded papy.ini)

-Coors Light Pole Qualifying: Auto Club 500
Laying down a blazing lap of 186.437 MPH, the #1 Bass Pro Shops/TRACKER Boats Impala SS of Martin Truex Jr. secured the 2nd Coors Light Pole of the 2008 Season, making Chevy 2 of 2 so far pole-wise. Carl Edwards managed to turn in the 2nd best time with a lap of 185.711 MPH and will start on the outside pole. Daytona 500 polesitter Dale Earnhardt Jr. qualified 13th (184.881 MPH) and Daytona 500 Winner Ryan Newman placed right behind Jr with a lap of 184.834 MPH.

    -Race #2 of 36: 2008 Auto Club 500 (63 Laps)
Leading the field to the green flag, Martin Truex Jr and Carl Edwards took the green flag to begin the Auto Club 500. Truex Jr leapt out front of the pack, leading the first two laps before the #16 of Greg Biffle scooted past coming off of Turn 4 coming to complete Lap 3.

    -CAUTION #1: Lap 11 (#16, 18, 88 Crash Front Stretch)
As the field worked its way down the frontstretch towards Turn One on Lap 11, Kyle Busch attempted to slide up in front of Greg Biffle. Not having enough room to complete the pass, the #18 M&M's Camry snagged the front left corner of the #16 3M Fusion and sparked the only caution of the race. Dale Earnhardt Jr, running behind Biffle when the contact was made, found himself being collected when Busch spun up the track and into the #88. All three cars continued with minor damage.

-Restart (Lap 15: Kevin Harvick leads the pack back to the green flag)

    -Biffle's Woes Continue
On Lap 32, the already tough day became worse for Greg Biffle when his camshaft broke, effectively ending his race. Along with teammate Jamie Mac in the #26 Crown Royal Fusion who suffered a ignition issue roughly a lap earlier, the two Roush Racing Fusions made up the only DNF's of the race.

    -Pitstops (Laps 36 through 43)
Pitting from the lead, Matt Kenseth began the cycle of pitstops on Lap 36, handing the lead to Tony Stewart. Stewart pitted next time by, handing the lead to Jeff Gordon. On Lap 39, Gordon and 2nd place runner Kevin Harvick pitted, handing the lead to Clint Bowyer (Lap 40) and Kyle Busch (Lap 41), who was on a different fuel strategy due to the crash he was in on Lap 11. Pitting on Lap 42, Kyle Busch surrendered the lead back to Jeff Gordon, who leads Tony Stewart and Kevin Harvick by roughly half a second.

For the remainder of the race, Jeff Gordon fended off multiple attempts by both Harvick and Stewart and with the help of the lapped cars of Sam Hornish Jr, David Gilliland, and Kyle Petty, managed to pull away from the competition.

-Checkered Flag: Jeff Gordon Wins the 2008 Auto Club 400 (Average Speed: 164.318 MPH)
Leading 26 of the 63 laps and dominating the late stages of the race, Jeff Gordon and the #24 DuPont Impala SS secured Hendrick Motorsports their first win of 2008, pulling away from 2nd place finisher Tony Stewart in the closing laps. Kenseth managed to finish in 3rd, and the RCR teammates of Clint Bowyer and Kevin Harvick rounded out the Top-5. Auto Club 500 Polesitter Martin Truex Jr. managed to secure 12th place, and Daytona 500 Champion Ryan Newman managed to finish just ahead of him in 11th.

    - Race Stats
There was 18 lead changes among 9 different drivers, with Gordon leading the most with 26. There was one caution for 4 laps (Biffle, Ky. Busch, Earnhardt Jr. Crash Lap 11). 33 of the 42 cars finished on the lead lap, with Regan Smith's #01 Principal Financial Impala SS holding off Gordon at the checkered flag.

    2008 UAW-Dodge 400 (Las Vegas, Nevada)
Track: Las Vegas Revamped 2011 (with Revamped/Reloaded papy.ini file)

-Coors Light Pole Qualifying: UAW-Dodge 400
Laying down a fast lap of 180.367 MPH around the 1.5 mile Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Matt Kenseth secured the 3rd pole of the 2008 season and gave Ford Racing its first pole of the year, breaking the two pole streak that Team Chevy had with Dale Jr. and Truex Jr in the opening two races. Jimmie Johnson just missed giving Chevy it's 3rd consecutive pole of the season, securing a spot on the outside of Row One with a lap of 180.229 MPH. Auto Club polesitter Martin Truex Jr. qualified 15th (178.968 MPH) with last week's winner Jeff Gordon qualifying right behind him with a lap of 178.950 MPH.

    -Race #3 of 36: 2008 UAW-Dodge 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway (67 Laps)
Leading the pack to the start of the UAW-Dodge 400, Matt Kenseth and Jimmie Johnson take the green flag to officially start the 3rd race of 2008. Johnson dominated the opening laps, taking the lead away from the #17 DeWalt/R&L Carriers Fusion of Kenseth on Lap 4 and leading 30 of the first 34 laps. Denny Hamlin took over the lead and was under attack by polesitter Matt Kenseth until...

-Caution #1: Lap 44 (#44, 84 Spin Turn Four) [Sorry, no photo of crash]
Coming off of Turn Four on Lap 43, the #44 UPS Camry of David Reutimann was tapped by A.J.'s #84 Red Bull Camry, sending them both spinning into the grass just past the entrance of pit road. Racing back to the line, Kenseth managed to secure the lead away from Denny Hamlin.

    -Pitstops: Lap 45 (Under Caution)
Leading the field into the pits, leader Matt Kenseth found minor trouble in the pits, enduring a long pit stop that handed the lead to the #11 Fedex Freight Camry of Denny Hamlin, who beat fellow JGR teammates Tony Stewart and Kyle Busch off of pit road.

-Woes for Dale Earnhardt Jr Under Caution Lap 46
Under the yellow flag, the #88 AMP Energy/Nat. Guard Impala SS of Dale Earnhardt Jr. suffered a suspension failure, resulting in his first DNF of 2008 and dropping him to a 42nd place finish.

-Restart: Lap 48 (Denny Hamlin Leads Tony Stewart and the rest of the pack to the green flag)

    -Caution #2: Lap 59 and 60 (#16, 42, 29, 6, 10, 00, 77 Crash Turn One & #66, 17, 31 Crash Turn Four)
In a wild series of events that sparked chaos all over the track, the 2nd Caution of the race turned out to have the biggest impact on the outcome of the race. The first incident was sparked when Greg Biffle found himself being punted into the wall by Juan Pablo Montoya as they headed into Turn One. As Biffle slid down the track after hitting the wall, Kevin Harvick and David Ragan made contact with the Biff's wrecked car, sending the #16 into several 360-degree rotations. Slightly behind them, the #10 of Patrick Carpentier spun upon entry into Turn One, collecting the #00 Aaron's Dream Machine Camry and dealing damage to Sam Hornish Jr. Only the slightly battered cars of David Ragan and Sam Hornish Jr. managed to continue after the accident.

Trying to race back past the leader to catch up to the rear of the field later that very same lap, the lapped car of Scott Riggs plowed into the rear of Jimmie Johnson as the pack gathered behind the pace car in Turn 3. Swerving to avoid the stalled #66 State Water Heaters Impala SS, polesitter Matt Kenseth (at the time running in 4th place) lost control and spun in front of 6th place driver Jeff Burton, who plowed into the #17 Dewalt/R&L Carriers Fusion with such force that it flipped it onto it's roof. Johnson stayed out with his rear end moderately damaged, and both Kenseth and Burton ended up with a DNF due to the brutal crash.

-Ignition Issues for Kyle Busch Under Caution (Lap 60)
For the second time today, a driver suffered a issue with their car under the yellow flag. This time, the #18 M&M's Camry of Kyle Busch had a ignition failure on the backstretch that sidelined Busch and dropped him down in the running order. Busch would finish in 35th, 7 laps down.

-Restart: Lap 64 (Jimmie Johnson leads Jeff Gordon to green flag)

-Checkered Flag: Jimmie Johnson wins the 2008 UAW-Dodge 400 at Las Vegas (Average Speed: 144. 334 MPH)
Even after sustaining moderate rear-end damage under a late-race caution when Scott Riggs plowed into his car in Turn 3, the dominant #48 Lowe's Home Improvement Impala SS of Jimmie Johnson would not be denied, holding off fellow HMS teammate Jeff Gordon at the line for the 2nd consecutive win for boss Rick Hendrick. The two-time defending champ won for the first time in 2008, leading two times for 48 of the 67 total laps. Finishing in 3rd was Denny Hamlin, with Clint Bowyer and Carl Edwards rounding out the Top-5. Polesitter Matt Kenseth, who had led earlier for 5 laps, found himself finishing in 34th place after his flip in Turn 4 and Auto Club 500 winner Jeff Gordon finished in 2nd place, failing to lead a lap.

    -Race Stats
There was only 3 lead changes among 3 drivers in the race, both marking the fewest totals for a race this year. Johnson led the most laps with 48, Hamlin for 14, and polesitter Kenseth with 5. 28 of the 42 cars finished on the lead lap, with the battered #77 Mobil One Charger R/T of Sam Hornish Jr. finishing in 28th place

Ran two more races this morning while watching the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Will have the Kobalt Tools 500 (Atlanta) and the 2008 Food City 500 (Bristol) up by tonight.

I have a favor to ask of someone who can help me. I need someone to quickly put together the overall point standings after 3 races. You can use the results image in each race post (see attachments) to help you figure it out.

    Cheers to whoever does it!

2008 Kobalt Tools 500 (Hampton, Georgia)
Track: Atlanta Revamped 2010 (Day) (with Revamped/Reloaded papy.ini file)

-Coors Light Pole Qualifying: Kobalt Tools 500
Blazing around the wicked fast Atlanta Motor Speedway with a fast lap of 197.268 MPH, Tony Stewart blew away the field in qualifying, securing his first pole of 2008. It also marks both Joe Gibbs Racing's and Toyota's first pole of the 2008 season. Falling short of Stewart's blazing lap was RCR driver Clint Bowyer, who wheeled his #07 Jack Daniels Impala SS to a lap of 196.826 MPH and will start from the outside pole. Las Vegas Polesitter Matt Kenseth laid down the 9th fastest lap (196.123 MPH) and UAW-Dodge 400 Winner Jimmie Johnson struggled to find that smooth yet fast lap, qualifying back in 17th with a lap of 195.246 MPH.

-Race #4: 2008 Kobalt Tools 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway (82 Laps)
Leading the pack to the green flag, the #20 The Home Depot Camry of Tony Stewart and the #07 Jack Daniels Impala SS of Clint Bowyer take the green flag from the flagman. Tony Stewart would find himself trading the lead back and forward with the #24 DuPont Impala SS of Jeff Gordon several times before...

    -Caution #1: Lap 19 (#38, 01, 21, 84 Crash Turns 3 and 4)
As the cars towards the rear of the field dived into Turn 3, contact between Smith's #01 Prudential Financial Impala SS and the #21 Lil' Debbie's Fusion of Bill Elliot sent the two drivers into a wild spin, collecting David Gilliland and A.J. Allmendinger. Everyone except the #00 involved in the wreck would not complete the race due to the damage they sustained, resulting in DNF's for those who failed to finish. Jeff Gordon got back to the line first and lead the field onto the pits.

-Pit Stops: Lap 20 (Under Caution)
Jeff Gordon may have lead the field into pit lane, but a unusually slow pit stop by his crew cost him dearly, losing four spots and handing the lead to Kyle Busch, who's #18 M&M's crew performed a wicked-quick pitstop. Carl Edwards picked up 3 spots on pit lane and found himself in second place.

-Restart: Lap 23 (Kyle Busch leads Carl Edwards and rest of pack to green flag)

-Caution #2: Lap 23 (#00, 88 Crash Turn 4) [Sorry, no image taken]
While the pack raced through Turns 3 and 4, the #00 of Michael McDowell found himself being punted into the wall after making contact with the #83 Red Bull Camry of Brian Vickers. As McDowell's battered #00 Aaron's Dream Machine Camry came down from the wall, 18th place runner Dale Earnhardt Jr. slammed into the side of the #00, effectively ending both driver's day early. Jr. limped his battered car back to the pits where the #88 AMP Energy/Nat. Guard Impala SS retired from the race.

-Restart: Lap 28 (Tony Stewart leads Jeff Gordon and rest of field to the green flag)

    Caution #3: Lap 29 (#42, 55, 22 Crash Turns 3 and 4)
As Juan Pablo Montoya quickly discovered, Turns 3 and 4 seemed to become the infamous "Calamity Corner" once again when the Columbian found his car being punted towards the outside wall by the #16 3M Fusion of Greg Biffle. As Montoya's wrecked #42 Texaco/Havoline Charger R/T slid down the race track, the Camry's of both Michael Waltrip and Dave Blaney got together and slammed into the crippled #42 car, effectively ending all of their days with a DNF.

-Restart: Lap 33 (Tony Stewart leads Jeff Gordon and the rest of the pack to the green flag)

    -Caution #4: Lap 47 (#17, 8, 10, 44, 77 Crash Turn 1)

As Kasey Kahne's #9 Budweiser Charger R/T dived into Turn One underneath the #8 U.S ARMY Impala SS of Mark Martin, the two made contact, sending Mark into Matt Kenseth and rookie Patrick Carpentier. Both Sam Hornish Jr. and David Reutimann sustained minor damage after running into the back of Carpentier, but all four drivers were able to continue the race. Nobody pits under this yellow flag, and Jeff Gordon finds himself at the head of the pack when the yellow flag flies.

-Restart: Lap 52 (Jeff Gordon leads Ryan Newman and rest of pack to green flag)

-Checkered Flag: Jimmie Johnson Wins the 2008 Kobalt Tools 500 at Atlanta (Average Speed: 153.139 MPH)
Taking the lead from fellow Hendrick Motorsports teammate Jeff Gordon several laps after the final restart on Lap 52, Jimmie Johnson and RCR driver Kevin Harvick pulled away from the field and dueled for the race win. It was Johnson's #48 Lowe's Home Improvement Impala SS that would win the war against Harvick, leading the last 20 laps and capping off the weekend with his second consecutive race win in the past 7 days. Daytona 500 champion Ryan Newman finished in 3rd, with the #24 DuPont Impala SS of Jeff Gordon and the #18 M&M's Camry of Kyle Busch rounding out the Top-5. Jimmie's win marked the 3rd win of the season for Hendrick Motorsports in 2008 and the second for the #48 team. Las Vegas Polesitter Matt Kenseth found trouble in Turn One on Lap 47, sustaining damage and finishing back in 30th position, a lap off the winning pace.

    -Race Stats
There were 7 lead changes among 5 drivers in the race, with Johnson leading twice for 32 laps, Gordon for 26, Stewart for 19, Kyle Busch for 3, and Kevin Harvick with 2. There were 25 of the 42 cars that finished on the lead lap, with the damaged #44 UPS Camry of David Reutimann finishing ahead of Johnson when the checkers flew.

2008 Food City 500 (Bristol, Tennessee)
Track: Bristol Revamped (Day) (with Revamped/Reloaded papy.ini file)

-Coors Light Pole Qualifying: Food City 500
Conquering the 1/2-mile bullring that is the Bristol Motor Speedway with a lap of 116.964 MPH, Denny Hamlin secured the 2nd consecutive pole of the year for both Joe Gibbs Racing and Toyota, with Stewart claiming the pole the prior week at Atlanta. Laying down the 2nd fastest lap overall at 115.493 MPH was the #26 Crown Royal Fusion of Jamie McMurray, who will start from the outside pole for his best starting position so far in 2008. Atlanta Polesitter Tony Stewart struggled for speed this weekend, only managing a lap of 113.445 MPH that left the #20 The Home Depot Camry mired in 30th place. Kobalt Tools 500 winner Jimmie Johnson secured 6th on the grid with a lap of 114.953 MPH.

-Race #5: 2008 Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway (100 Laps)
With the green flag waving above, polesitter Denny Hamlin and 2nd place Jamie McMurray lead the pack to the start of the Food City 500 at Bristol. Denny Hamlin pulled away from the pack, dueled with the hard-charging Jeff Gordon and Kyle Busch, catching the rear of the pack when...

    -Caution #1: Lap 31 (#21, 11, 24, 18, 26, 77, 07, 48 Crash Turn One)
Running towards the back of the pack, the #21 Lil' Debbie's Fusion of Bill Elliot was knocked sideways by the #28 of Travis Kvapil upon entry into Turn One, sending the #21 sliding into the wall. As Bill Elliot slid down the track, Denny Hamlin, who had broken away from Gordon and was leading the race, found himself being smashed into by the lapped car of Sam Hornish Jr. The impact sent Hamlin onto his roof and rolled the car 3 times down the banking, effectively ended his day with a DNF.

As Hamlin was tumbling, Jeff Gordon and Jamie McMurray snagged fenders going into Turn One, collecting the #18 M&M's Camry of Kyle Busch, the #07 of Clint Bowyer, and the #48 of Jimmie Johnson in the process. Of all the cars involved, Clint Bowyer, Jimmie Johnson and Sam Hornish Jr. would continue the race until a blown piston sidelined Hornish 40 laps later. Clint Bowyer managed to avoid the majority of the brutal carnage and wound up being scored as the leader.

-Restart: Lap 38 (Clint Bowyer's #07 Jack Daniels Impala SS leads Greg Biffle and field to the green flag)

-Issue Causes Johnson to Go Several Laps Down
    [IMG]
Most likely suffering from a tire issue, the #48 Lowe's Home Improvement Impala dropped onto pit road from the 7th position on track to take four new tires. By the time the 2-time winner had made it back on track at Lap 53, Johnson found himself 3 laps down to the leaders.

    -Caution #2: Lap 74 (#17, 31, 20, 96, 55 Crash Front Stretch)
As Jeff Burton and Matt Kenseth struggled to work past lapped traffic, they snagged fenders with each other coming off of Turn 4, sending Kenseth slamming down into the #96 DLP/Texas Instruments Camry of JJ Yeley and Burton into Tony Stewart's car. As the #17 slid across the track, Michael Waltrip in the #55 sustained damage by banging into the rear end of Kenseth. All drivers involved managed to continue on with light to moderate damage.

-Restart: Lap 80 (Clint Bowyer leads Greg Biffle to the line)

-Checkered Flag: Clint Bowyer Delivers RCR It's First Win of 2008 by Winning the Food City 500 (Average Speed: 91.918 MPH)
Even after sustaining minor damage in the first major wreck that wiped out several major contenders, Clint Bowyer set sail and after dealing with a surprisingly fast Regan Smith, he led 64 of the 100 laps en route to his first victory of 2008 ahead of 2nd place Greg Biffle and it was the 1st win for owner Richard Childress this year. The #88 AMP Energy/Nat. Guard Impala SS of Dale Earnhardt Jr. managed to hold off the hard-charging Kurt Busch for 3rd, and in a surprising effort, the #22 CAT Camry of Dave Blaney finished in the 5th position. Atlanta polesitter Tony Stewart struggled all race, failing to crack the Top-10 with his 13th place effort, and the Kobalt Tools 500 winner Jimmie Johnson found himself multiple laps down in 36th after a mid-race pitstop for a tire issue cost him a possible Top-10 day.

    -Race Stats
There was 5 official lead changes among 5 different drivers, with Clint Bowyer leading the most with 64 laps, Hamlin for 30, Gordon for 3, Regan Smith for 2, and Kyle Busch for 1 lap. 30 of the 42 cars managed to finish on the lead lap, with the #00 Aaron's Dream Machine of McDowell holding onto the last position in front of the hard-charging Clint Bowyer.

    2008 Goody's Cool Orange 500 (Martinsville, Virginia)
Track: Martinsville Revamped 2009a (with Revamped/Reloaded papy.ini file)

-Coors Light Pole Qualifying: Goody's Cool Orange 500
Taming the tight 1/2-mile Martinsville Speedway with a fast lap of 90.426 MPH, Dale Earnhardt Jr. put his #88 AMP Energy/National Guard Impala SS on pole for Sunday's race, delivering Team Chevy it's 3rd pole in six races. Just missing the 3rd consecutive pole for Joe Gibbs Racing was Denny Hamlin, who's lap of 90.387 MPH secured his spot on the outside front row. Food City 500 Winner Clint Bowyer brought his #07 Jack Daniels Impala SS home with the 9th fastest time (90.051 MPH).

    -Race #6: 2008 Goody's Cool Orange 500 (100 Laps)
Leading the pack to the green flag, the #88 of Dale Earnhardt Jr and Denny Hamlin's #11 Fedex Freight Camry take the green from the flagman. With ease, Jr. pulled away from the field and set sail, clicking off blistering laps that left the rest of the contenders in his dust.

-Header Woes for Championship Leader Newman (Lap 5)
Only on Lap 5 of the race, Ryan Newman's #12 Alltel Charger R/T suffered a engine failure going into Turn One, dropping him from 9th place down to 42nd, putting a hurt on his championship points lead.

    -Caution #1: Lap 7 (#10, 44, 55 Crash Turn One)
Diving down under teammate David Reutimann and the #10 Valvoline Charger R/T of Patrick Carpentier to make it 3-wide going into Turn One, Waltrip's bumper snagged the rear of Reutimann's #44 UPS Camry, sending it sideways into Carpentier's car, resulting in both cars spinning out. Minor damage was inflicted to both the #44 and #10, but they continued on. Nobody pits except for cars towards the rear of the pack.

-Restart: Lap 13 (Jr. Leads Hamlin to Green)

-Caution #2: Lap 24 (#19 Stall, Turn Four)
Coming off of Turn Two, the #19 Best Buy Charger R/T of Elliot Sadler pulled out of the racing groove and slowly idled his way down the backstretch. In a baffling move, Sadler did not take his crippled car to the pits, deciding to enter Turn 3 while the pack roared around his stricken car. With no power under the hood, Sadler's car came to a stop in the middle of Turns 3 & 4, bringing out the caution. Other than cars that were a lap down, nobody pitted.

-Gearbox Failure Plagues Tony Stewart (Lap 24)
As the #20 The Home Depot Camry of 2-time champion Tony Stewart entered Turn One moments before the caution for Elliot Sadler flew, the gearbox let go in his car, resulting in a 40th place finish. He was running in 5th at the time of the failure.

-Restart: Lap 30 (Dale Jr. Leads Hamlin and Busch to Green)

    -Caution #3: Lap 79 (#16, 41 Crash Backstretch)
Coming off of Turn Two, Greg Biffle got loose and clipped the left rear of Reed Sorenson's #41 Target Charger R/T, spinning Reed out. Hooked together, Biffle's #16 3M Fusion pushed Sorenson 1/2 down the backstretch before breaking away from the #41. Both cars continued, and nobody pitted once again.

Restart: Lap 85 (Jr. Leads Hamlin and Busch to Green)

-Checkered Flag: Junior Nation Celebrates as Dale Earnhardt Jr. Wins the 2008 Goody's 500 in Dominant Fashion (Average Speed: 71.964 MPH)
Leading every lap of the race until lapped traffic on Lap 90 allowed Denny Hamlin to scoot around and lead 3 laps, Dale Earnhardt Jr. muscled his way past Hamlin with 7 laps to go and pulled away en route to his first win of 2008, winning for owner Rick Hendrick for the 1st time. Kyle Busch managed to hold onto 3rd place, with both Clint Bowyer's #07 Jack Daniel's and Jimmie Johnson's #48 Lowe's Home Improvement Impala SS rounding out the Top-5. Bristol Polesitter Denny Hamlin finished 2nd, and Food City 500 Winner Clint Bowyer secured 4th place.

    -Race Stats
There was only 2 lead changes amongst 2 drivers, with Dale Jr. leading the most at 97 laps and Hamlin managing to lead the other 3 laps. Only 20 of the 42 cars finished on the lead lap, with the #5 Kellogg's Impala SS of Casey Mears finishing in 20th position.
