Have been trying to create my own ratings for the 2008 Daytona 500 as a precursor to doing them for all the races in my offline season. Firstly I calculated them myself and then I used a spreadsheet I got from the masgrafx forum but in both cases the results were terrible and they usually qualified in the order they finished and generally it didn't lead to very exciting racing.

So I was wondering if anyone had their own ratings they are willing to share or know where some for the '08 season exist because the main problem is that the majority of ss.net cot cars released don't have ratings.

Thanks

Edit: Or if anyone could guide me in the way of making good, realistic ratings because I'd be willing to give it a go and get some out there, as I have a ridiculous amount of spare time.

Well, Masgrafx is actually looking for someone to do the race by race ratings... They have a rating sheet they won't distribute to the public but you could apply to be in charge of their ratings. Main problems is you would need to start where the last person left, meaning race 4 or 5 of 2007...
But many people like me would appreciate! I just don't have enough time myself, and my schedule is very irregular.

Go back to MasGrafx forums and get Snyderart's Driver Rating Spreadsheet and also read his posts about how to use it. Once you have it you can input data into the Excel spreadsheet and it will output the info you need to put into NR2003. Nascar Standing Nascar Point Standing, Nascar 2008 Point Standing and 2008 NASCAR Statistics, NASCAR Racing Statistics, Nascar 2008 Winners are good places to get the info you need to plug into the spreadsheet. I use it and it works great.

hey can you link to that fourm please, that would be awsome to set my driver ratings to make my ai alot better

I tried them, they made good season rating files but when I did the 2008 Daytona 500 ratings the results weren't that good, they tended to qualify in the order they finished and all but about 10 cars were on the lead lap. I think may try and do my own... knew maths would come in useful for something!

I did my own, it takes forever, haha. When I download TGA files, then match them up with cars I downloaded from Racinggroove and all, its such a pain. Its worth it in the end. You dont have to wait until every sunday to watch a good race, haha.

There are a ton of posts on various boards on this topic. My conclusion is it is somewhat of personal preference. I personally like my own settings and the racing is quite competitve.
I use an A,B,C,D system and overlap the ratings (example max 75-100 A 65-100 B )
You do get drivers do well who otherwise might not, but hey, thats racing.

Meh, I like rating everyone 40-60 and seeing what happens. I saw Sam Hornish win an offline race at Bristol with Travis Kvapil finishing 2nd. That was cool. :)

Dude, I just tried out this ratings program that I found at Masgrafx....the guy who developed it must have seriously worked his butt off to get this together. Head over there and check it out in the forums under the "Drivers Ratings" heading. I don't want to link it because it's against the forum rules, but I tried it out and it is awesome IMO.

Whenever i work on or download ratings i always edit the qualifying numbers in the driver ratings so they are all equal.
I set the numbers for all drivers to 45 min 95 max that way any body could qualify on pole and the better drivers have to fight thru the field as in real life.
If Jimmy or Jeff start at the back of the pack it makes for a much more interesting race and having Micheal Waltrip on pole isnt so strange.
Ive downloaded and tried the new driver ratings program from Masgrafx and must say its a great idea and an excellent way to keep on top of driver ratings thru the season. But at the moment the ratings are a little bit high. Most drivers Max numbers are in the 100 making them really to fast so if you race at 100% youll b in for a shock. But you can turn them down manually.
