I was pulling for Newman since he's my favorite driver but I wouldn't have minded seeing anyone else in the top 5.

Race sounded great, it kinda makes me wish I would have gone to the track and watched it. That would have been great! I was hoping that Ohio native Dave Blaney would pull off the win.

It was a great way for Austin to start off his weekend of racing all 3 series!

I'll be the first to say I was apprehensive about the potential of seeing a lot of torn up equipment. Fortunately, it didnt happen. And that made me happy.

That being said, I still wasnt really into it. I dont think it was horrible, but I dont think it was great either. It was kind of an out-of-the-box example of single-groove-up-top racing, which most of the time, I'm not real crazy about.

Aside from that though, I'm just generally not much of a dirt fan. I appreciate the talent, the "culture", and everything else, but its just not really my cup of tea, plain and simple. I grew up around the local asphalt short tracks, and thats what gets me going. And its what I find most exciting.

For me, the best part of this race was seeing Kenny Schrader out there, and Norm Benning's whole deal (not just the battle, but all the different crews helping him). Other than that, it didnt do much for me.

The racing kinda reminded me of Bristol when they grinded the top groove off a few years ago. Everyone ran the top and the only way to pass was on the bottom and it wasn't easy!

IRP also springs to mind.

I think if they do it next year it will be better. They really need to change the windshield out, put wire and 3 poles in there to protect the driver and give them tear-offs. That would enable them to be able to work on the track. Tony said on TSL, they wanted it as hard as possible so that there would not be any mud and so it would not log up the radiator. If they could work on the track throughout the night, that would give you more then the cushion. Ive seen plenty of great races with the Sprints and Lates at Eldora.

Isn't that why 99% of the trucks there ran special grilles so the dirt wouldn't get through to the radiator?! They're not running full engine power so even if the grille did get covered in mud, I don't think overheating would be a problem. Hopefully, there's lots of testing done to make next year's event even better!

Even running at half power. The engine will over heat. Even your normal car will over heat. If you leave it running with out air moving across the radiator.

Not sure what everyone's talking about, so I'll just throw my idea about the Mudsummer Classics in here :)

I LOVED it! Really enjoyed watching it! It was I believe the first race I've fully seen on dirt, so really special! I hope they're gonna do this for a lot more years, and hopefully we'll see the Nationwide and possibly Cup cars on dirt soon

But this was a lot more physical than the old style of Bristol. Thats what I really loved about it there was a lot of contact and rough racing, but it wasn't a wreck fest. It's already been said on here but this would be a great concept for the All Star race.

So run fans on the radiators...not sure if it's allowed in the Truck Series but maybe that'll help.

I think NASCAR should keep it with just trucks, Cup and Nationwide will not be anywhere near as exciting unless they make it a short race (they won't) also, I like seeing the trucks get a special event of their own. I missed out on tickets to it, but managed to snag Mid-Ohio ones so 1 of 2 nearby races isn't too bad (not to mention I just got back from the Kentucky race not to long ago), cant wait to go if they have it next year!

I think they might all ready do that. I am not sure as I don't pay much attention to the tucks.

I have a really hard time imagining the bulky and comparatively-unresponsive cup COTs drifting well at all, though the Nationwide muscle cars seem vaguely plausible on a larger track. Eldora would be way too small for a field of them though.

If, and that's a big IF the Nationwide and/or Cup cars do end up running dirt, they should probably run that at a mile long dirt track like Springfield, DuQuion, or Syracuse. Maybe a 3/4 mile but not a tight 1/2 mile like Eldora.
