Congrats to Ty for winning his first Nationwide series race!

... But seriously, this track was not made for stock cars. At all.

I didn't watch the race, but congrats to Ty Dillon. Like him or not, always nice to see a first time winner...and a non cup winner. I'm hoping the racing tomorrow is decent.

Congrats to Ty Dillon on his first win.

NASCAR has gained nothing by moving the NNS race to IMS. The fans pack IRP every single time. Fans are understandably upset and angry that NASCAR isn't racing there anymore. Is NASCAR too oblivious to see this??? They'd do themselves a lot of good to go back to IRP.

Cup @ Indianapolis is cool and should remain on the schedule, regardless of how boring/exciting the racing is. Whether people like it or not, Indy is a unique track with a ton of history, and winning at IMS is special for any driver who wins at the track, and for that reason alone, Indy should remain on the Cup schedule.

However, I have never understood why they brought Nationwide to the track. Indianapolis Raceway Park was always a fun race for the NNS guys, and the stands were usually packed. While I didn't watch this years race, the first two were a joke in my opinion, the difference in equipment made these races a complete joke, cause there would be no action. None. Nadda. That, and the idea of a second tier major series that's dominated by the higher tier drivers running on the track bothers me. Every driver wants to win and kiss the bricks at Indy...and when a Cup driver dominates a lower tier series race at Indy and gets all the fame of winning at the track, it bothers me. Which is why I'm glad Ty Dillon won.

TL;DR: NNS @ Indy shouldn't exist.

I don't understand why people are fed up with cup drivers winning races in lower series. The drivers get zero points in other series, and it's like they don't exist, basically. For example, if Kevin Harvick wins a truck or nationwide race, Keselowski finishes 5th, and Kyle Busch finishes 25th, while Chris Buescher finishes 2nd, Regan Smith 6th, and Jamie Dick 26th, Chris Buescher will get 40 points plus his bonuses earned, Regan gets 34 plus bonuses, and Jamie gets 14, plus bonuses.

Kyle and everyone else have the right to race lower series, for extra track time, amd what-not. It shouldn't bother us, since the only difference is laps led and last place will get 6 points instead of 1. Also cup drivers have been doing this for decades.

NASCAR wants more fans into the sport and more good racing but look what they did. They removed one very exciting race track and replaced it with one very boring race track. What the heck, NASCAR.

Anyways, congrats to Ty for winning the race.

Honestly, I think they should just go to LORP, but they will never do it.

Well Kyle didn't win Congrats to Ty I still think your brothers is more skilled. Damn Harv that strat sucked but you gave it your all like most of this year no damn luck.
Yes racing at LORP would have been exciting , but then again trucks and NWS going back no companion races would be awesome but never happen.

I don't know, if NASCAR isn't happy with the attendance and the racing, they will make a change I would like to think.

They can't be THAT oblivious... right?

Fixed.

Guys like Kyle and Kevin and Joey and Brad lead a good 90% of the races in most cases. Thus, they would accumulate most (if not all) of the bonus points to be had. Since they get no points in the series, they just get zero, practically eliminating any chance of regulars gaining bonus points because they aren't just awarded to the next regular if they manage to lead a lap or two in the race.

One of the reasons the whole "points in one series" system is flawed, among other reasons...

Picked up my tickets and Im at the track. Free tickets in the upper stands, in the shade, on the start finish line...today is going to be awesome.

Moved the Carl Edwards related posts to the Carl Edwards thread. Leave this thread to discussion of the race weekend so we don't have a conversation about the same thing happening in two different places.
