Never heard of Brian Till and Kaitlyn Vincie but otherwise it seems like Fox has a good crew. Still miss Dick Berggren though.

I dont like the decision to not use the regular Cup broadcasters for the NXS races. Using the Truck guys to do it makes it seem less prestigious and closer to the Trucks than Cup.

But beyond that not many changes. Little replaced Voda, Neville replaced Byrnes, and for some reason they still haven't replaced Berggren

Not crazy about having Alexander on board, but at least Mikey will be with him. Just glad they didn't bring in Wally. I've seen golf commentators who are more lively, insightful, and decisive, than him. He's just awful.

Pit reporters seem to be lacking a bit across the board. I'd much rather see Hermie, Welch, or Vincie over Neville on the Cup roster.

Actually, this is how TV crews for ESPN, TNN, etc used to do the support races back in the day. The top tier announcers/commentators were saved for the Cup races, and a supporting cast were used for Busch/Truck races. For example, Bob/Ned/Benny would do Cup but Busch races would be called by Jerry Punch at the lead. It was 15+ years ago now and I can't remember all the names anymore, but I do remember different voices doing the different series.

Then the new TV contract came about, and suddenly the same voices that called Cup races were used for everything down to the practice sessions. It's probably because I remember different, but I always felt like that diluted the quality of the commentary. I'm glad they're going back to having different announce teams. It should provide for a better overall product.

Well at least Darrell, Larry and Mike know what they are doing. NBC better put their Cup guys on the NXS races, that way they can improve their chemistry

I think having Gordon,Harvick and Kes on commentary specially with 2 have lot of Xfinity series experiance and current at that and then Gordon maybe prepping for Next year is a good thing. i

Also: it's no longer "NASCAR on FOX" it's now "FOX NASCAR". This follows what they did with "NFL on FOX" which is now "FOX NFL", "MLB on FOX" which is now "FOX MLB"

On their Motorcross coverage, Fox is using the score leaderboard they used for the Shootout last year, except it's on the left side this time

I wish they would get rid of Chris Myers, he's always sounds uninterested whenever he is announcing. Other than that, the lineups look good. I agree that they should have some of the Cup guys do announcing for NXS.

Man...The new 2015 contract would have been a great oppurtunity to can the Waltrips. I don't know how anybody could stand to hear the hot air they let out every week.

If you were looking for changes you wont find many. Fox hasn't really made too many modifications over the years. One thing I love about Fox is that they don't only focus on the top teams, especially in qualifying coverage. Mike and Larry especially know the backstories of all of the teams and drivers, not only the big ones. ESPN and Turner usually seemed uninformed about the happenings of the non-super teams, and usually ignored them, and that's been the only counter to Fox for the last 15 years (don't forget Turner produced coverage for NBC from 2001-2006).

Agreed. They do bring a lot of knowledge to the sport - esp the smaller guys - but those chumps work my nerves sometimes.

Every time I think of this, I think of guys like Rusty Wallace, Jimmy Spencer, Wally Dallenbach Jr. and others who are 1000x worse than the Waltrips and unknowing network executives would turn to simply because they have broadcasting experience.

To be perfectly honest, once DW gets through the opening part of a broadcast and the race gets established, he's pretty decent. Larry Mac is OK and Mike Joy is excellent (most of the time.)

When compared to the Pantheon of Bob, Benny and Ned, they can't stack up. But, when put up against their competion over the last 15 years, they have been and still are the best.

Mike Joy is the last of the Ken Squirer, Dick Bergrenn, Chris Economaki style of guys who quite literally knew everyone in the sport. They live/lived what they were commentating. The rest of them are just collecting paychecks because it's a job.

My question would be why him? Why not a former NASCAR official?

ALSO: Vince Welch will do pit reporting for the Daytona 500 as well as Xfinity and Trucks, Fox has announced. However, he will not work any of the Cup undercards (Unlimited, Qualifying, Duels)

To update what I said a few weeks ago: originally Fox was going to try to go back to the stupid vertical leaderboard that they used for the Unlimited/Duels last year. However, they could not find a way to make it fit the camera framing used for NASCAR (which is why they originally got rid of it). So they will actually be sticking with last year's top-screen scoring system, though there will be a few tweaks (just as there were numerous times last season).

I think tomorrow is opening practice for the Sprint Unlimited (or is it Saturday morning?) Either way will watch and see how the broadcasting is, will be great to see Nascar on Fox back.

I still want a regular ticker back but whatever changes they make this year I'll be looking closely for sure.
