Discuss the upcoming NASCAR race weekend here as the Camping World Truck Series teams up with the Xfinity Series for what should be a great Father's Day weekend full of intense racing at the fast, rough surface of the Iowa Speedway. With the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series off until their race at Sonoma Raceway the following Sunday, the stars of each series will have the spotlight shining on them as they hit the track this weekend. The ARCA Racing Series is back in action this weekend and will make the trek to Madison International Raceway for their race weekend in Oregon, Wisconsin.

Sucks for Tifft. Doesn't get too many chances to drive the #18, at least they didn't put a Cup guy in it.

Also neat to see Ben Kennedy driving the #2 in NXS for Childress.

Two-Day Organizational Testing At Kentucky Speedway Concludes (Credit to Jayski):
There was a bit more of a racing groove here at Kentucky Speedway for the second and final day of an organizational test for NASCAR Sprint Cup Series teams, thanks in part to yesterday's on-track activity as well as high temperatures. "It's changed a lot, really changed in a good direction," Kasey Kahne, driver of the #5 Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports, said Tuesday. "Yesterday there was really no grip at all and it just took time. By the end of the day it was starting to get pretty good. Today there's even more rubber on the track. I think a good thing about this is it's hot and the rubber is laying down. When we come back, hopefully it's hot. I think if it's hot it will create a much better race and let us kind of move around and lay more rubber on the race track." Fourteen teams were on hand Monday, with only the #78 Toyota of Furniture Row Racing with driver Martin Truex Jr., not returning for the final day.

Kevin Harvick, quickest on Monday, continued to post the top unofficial lap times Tuesday, with lap times quickly dipping into the 28-second bracket during the morning session. Kyle Busch, AJ Allmendinger, Joey Logano and Kahne also posted sub-29 second laps. "It's getting there," Logano, driver of the Team Penske #2 Ford and the series' most recent race winner, said of the track surface. "It's taken awhile, but it definitely is starting to grip up, which is good.

Tuesday's practice was slowed only twice by on-track incidents. Logano's Ford dropped fluid on the track near the end of the session for the first stoppage while Greg Biffle sustained damage to the rear of the #16 Roush Fenway Racing Ford in a separate incident.

This week's test is the first of five organizational tests for Sprint Cup Series teams this season. Only one team per organization is allowed to participate. Future tests this year are scheduled for Indianapolis Motor Speedway (July 12-13), Watkins Glen International (July 26-27), Chicagoland Speedway (Aug. 23-24) and Homestead-Miami Speedway (Oct. 18-19).

Kyle Larson Hit With 15-Point Penalty After Michigan Infractions, Crew Chief Fined $25,000 (Credit to MRN):
Kyle Larson was docked 15 points for his car failing post-race inspection after last Sunday’s FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan International Speedway.

Crew chief Phil Sturgen, who was filling in for the suspended Chad Johnston, was fined $25,000 and placed on probation until season’s end.

Johnston was serving a suspension for a lug nut violation the prior race at Pocono and will not be impacted by the penalty.

The Target Chip Ganassi Racing entry failed to pass the Laser Inspection Station after finishing third at Michigan.

The team said they would not appeal the penalty.

The penalty drops Larson from 19th to 21st in the Sprint Cup Series point standings.

Ok, maybe it's just the angle and the lens, but that track looks like you can take cars 4 and 5 wide....
The only change in the width I know is turns 1 & 2 got narrowed from 74 to 56 feet I believe so it will be about a lane shorter than before. Other than that, Kentucky has always been wide enough to where to could line up 5 cars side-by-side even though it's only a 2-3 groove race track.

Good thing these two races are on FS1. My local FOX station has been stripped from Dish Network.

That could be a costly penalty for Larson. He's behind the Chase points cutoff by a decent margin still. While he seems likely to win a race somewhat soon, that's much easier said than done and certainly not a guarantee that it will happen.

Brad Keselowski Tests Team Penske Verizon Indycar During Test Session at Road America (Credit to ESPN):
Brad Keselowski doesn't plan to unseat any of the Team Penske IndyCar drivers from their rides, but when the team offered the 2012 Sprint Cup champion a chance to take some laps in an IndyCar, he couldn't refuse.

Keselowski jumped in the car prepared by the team of series points leader Simon Pagenaud during a test on Wednesday afternoon at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin.

There are no immediate plans for the NASCAR star to compete in an IndyCar event. The only IndyCar race that doesn't conflict with a NASCAR event this year is in August at Pocono Raceway, and Keselowski probably would need significant time in the car testing on a high-speed oval before even considering racing Pocono.

"First thing I told Simon is he has a very secure job, at least from me," Keselowski said in a news release. "I've got a lot of respect for him and his team, everyone at Team Penske.

"I learned a ton today and had a lot of fun. I've got to let it soak in here to think about all of it."

Keselowski described his experience later Wednesday on Twitter. While the car was new for Keselowski, the 4.048-mile course wasn't. Keselowski finished fourth in the Xfinity Series race at Road America in 2010.

"The opportunity came up to dip my toes in the water and kind of expand my knowledge base and put it in the back of my mind -- for wherever it goes, I don't know," Keselowski said. "But it was a heck of an opportunity, and I'm glad to have a chance."

The braking was one of the biggest things Keselowski had to adjust to during his runs. Team Penske tweeted that he took 10 seconds off his initial lap time and had a top speed of 187 mph.

"You have to build confidence in it because the stock car does everything it can to wreck your confidence, and in the IndyCar, it's important to have confidence," Keselowski said. "So you have to kind of unlearn everything you learned in a stock car to be good in these cars. That's a heck of a process but a fun one.

"It's certainly a different feel, trying to get acclimated to a different seat, and you lean back more. I was kind of sitting in Simon's seat, and it doesn't always fit you perfect, so it wears you out pretty quick. But it's a good way to get worn out."

Keselowski gets back to his NASCAR job this weekend, competing in the Xfinity Series at Iowa Speedway during an off weekend for the Sprint Cup Series.

That's pretty cool. I've always wondered how a guy with traditional stock car experience would fare doing a switch. Not that I want Brad to be the one to do it though haha.

That's pretty good for ARCA. I actually get ASN on NESN, and it looks like plenty of affiliates across the country get it, so we draw ever closer to the day Wayne Petersen is seen in full glory EVERY WEEK.

Wish it was on CBSSN or NBCSN like the last few years so there was actually good production quality but ARCA gets way more races live with ASN.
