2017 NASCAR Xfinity Dash-4-Cash Information (Credit to NASCAR.com):
Dash4Cash-main.jpg

The NASCAR XFINITY Series Dash 4 Cash has an updated format for 2017 with the implementation of stages in each race of the series' 33-event circuit. Stage 1 and Stage 2 will determine which four drivers are eligible in the main race for the Dash 4 Cash prize, and a $100,000 check for each event.

Plus, $600,000 would be awarded to a driver who wins all four Dash 4 Cash bonuses, making the total possible winnings $1 million this year. Here is a quick rundown of how the format works.

THE RACES
Phoenix Raceway (March 18)
Bristol Motor Speedway (April 22)
Richmond International Raceway (April 29)
Dover International Speedway (June 3)

RACE FORMATS
Coors Light Pole Qualifying will determine the starting positions for the race.

The field will then begin the race with Stage 1, followed by Stage 2 and the Final Stage.

Phoenix Raceway is new to the four-race Dash 4 Cash schedule this year, replacing Indianapolis Motor Speedway as a designated event.

Based on the participation guidelines announced last year, drivers with more than five years of full-time experience are restricted from the four races in the Dash 4 Cash program.

DASH-4-CASH ELIGIBILITY

The top-two finishing NASCAR XFINITY Series points-earning drivers in each of the two stages will make up the four-driver Dash 4 Cash field for the Final Stage. Once Stage 1 is complete, the two drivers who lock into the main field won't have their position counted following Stage 2 to ensure a four-driver field.

The highest finisher in the final stage among the four eligible drivers wins the Dash 4 Cash and a $100,000 prize.

PLAYOFF ELIGIBILITY

If a driver earns two Dash 4 Cash wins (not race wins) over the four Dash 4 Cash races, that is equivalent to a regular-season race win for XFINITY Series postseason eligibility.

Bristol has apparently moved their victory lane to the front stretch, moving away from their permanent vl up top turn 3.

This weather forecast is ass.
Agreed. It's not looking good for a Sunday race (Monday race looking highly likely as of now, unless it stops raining early enough on Sunday night for them to dry the track and hold the race).

Honestly I'd love it if they just cut their losses now and decided to go prime time Monday night. Obviously they won't because of the people who bought tickets and have to go work on Monday, but it'd be great to not have to check freaking Bob Pockrass' Twitter all day Sunday to find out when the green flag might drop lol.

Bob Pockrass.
Screw him

Facebook, this thread and RuRa are more than enough to keep me updated during a rain delay (these days those alone keep me updated with nearly everything)

As for going Monday night prime time why not? Would be better than dragging it out all day Sunday and possibly running it late Sunday into early Monday morning.

Or even worse, postponing it from Sunday to Monday at Noon when literally nobody can watch.

Playoff Race At Charlotte Moved To Sunday (Day Race) On NBC, Martinsville Playoff Race Moved To Later Start Time, Playoff Race At Texas Moved To NBCSN (Credit to NASCAR.com):
"Daylight Racing Time" is back for the Bank of America 500 as the race returns to a Sunday afternoon start time in 2017, Charlotte Motor Speedway announced on Thursday. The fourth race of the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series playoffs and first race in the Round of 12 will now be held on Sunday, Oct. 8 at 2 p.m. ET with TV coverage on NBC -- instead of the initial announced date of Saturday, Oct. 7 -- in a move geared for on-track competition and a more family-friendly schedule over a three-day weekend.

"Charlotte's so tricky, especially when the sun's out," seven-time Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series champion and defending Bank of America 500 winner Jimmie Johnson said in a track release. "And, the track's finally aging and getting to a place with a lot of character (so) that a day race will allow us to run so many more lanes and, I think, create such an entertaining and compelling race ... I'm really excited for a hot, slick, day race."

The past two years have seen the race moved from Saturday to Sunday due to inclement weather. The race has not been scheduled for the daytime since 2002. The fall race weekend schedule at Charlotte had been set up to be a Thursday-Friday-Saturday affair in recent years. This year's schedule will also include: Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series qualifying held on Friday, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. ET, and the XFINITY Series Drive for the Cure 300 presented by Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina at 3 p.m. ET on Saturday, Oct. 7, televised on NBCSN. That race is an elimination race in the XFINITY Series playoffs as the postseason field will shrink from 12 drivers to eight following the event.

"We've heard from fans and from several drivers about how much fun it is to race during the daytime at Charlotte Motor Speedway," Marcus Smith, speedway president and general manager, said in the release. "A return to 'Daylight Racing Time' also builds on our commitment to being 'FANS FIRST' by providing families with affordable, world-class entertainment on a Sunday afternoon. Everyone should set their clocks for 'Daylight Racing Time,' because it's going to be an unforgettable weekend of racing."

In other programming news: the fall race at Martinsville is now scheduled for a 3 p.m. ET start; and the fall Texas race will be broadcast on NBCSN.

Looks like the fall Martinsville race will most likely be ending under the lights with the later start time!

Disappointing. Charlotte having the only night race in the chase was nice. I guess this will offer better racing, at least a little bit better.

And I think this is the first move in order to run the second Charlotte race in a road course. Putting lights in the infield is difficult because it's quite full with RV's on race weekends so...why not to race it under natural light?

I'll post the starting lineup information once it becomes available on ESPN.

On Eve of Earth Day, Charlotte Motor Speedway Reveals Plans For Innovative Turn 4 Sun Deck (Credit to Charlotte Motor Speedway):
Known for leading the way in innovation and creating unforgettable fan experiences, Charlotte Motor Speedway officials announced plans Friday for the facility’s latest modernization project, a multipurpose fan enhancement that will literally energize the sport and offer fans a bevy of new ways to watch the thrilling on-track action during May’s 10 Days of NASCAR Thunder and for many years to come.

The Turn 4 Sun Deck is the speedway’s latest cutting-edge offering for fans attending events at the iconic 1.5-mile superspeedway, adding to improvements over the decades that have included innovative lights for night racing, a giant 16,000-square-foot Speedway TV, condominiums overlooking the track and luxury dining experiences with The Speedway Club.

Combining the renewable resources of a 960-panel elevated solar farm and the unmatched views trackside outside of Turn 4, the Sun Deck offers fans and corporate guests a wide range of entertainment options from luxury motorhome campsites to cabana packages for small groups. The 42,000-square-foot deck will include food and beverage service, restroom facilities, picnic and high-top tables and a wide concourse with room for live music acts, corn hole and other entertainment.

“Today more than ever we’re seeing fans who want new ways to enjoy sporting events that go beyond the traditional at-track experience,” said Charlotte Motor Speedway President and General Manager Marcus Smith. “Fans want to feel that sense of community. They want the flexibility to leave their seats to interact with other fans and have fun, but they still want to stay on top of the action. The Turn 4 Sun Deck will provide that perfect balance.”

On the eve of Earth Day, the rollout of the Turn 4 Sun Deck also highlights the speedway’s commitment to being a responsible environmental partner, harnessing the clean power of solar energy to reduce the speedway’s carbon footprint.

Consisting of 960 photovoltaic modules (solar panels), it is estimated that the Turn 4 Sun Deck will collect more than 375,000 kilowatt hours of energy annually. That amount would be enough to power all of the more than 3 million LED lights at Speedway Christmas for more than a year, the 16,000-square-foot Speedway TV for three months or 416 average American homes for a month.

Drivers are complaining about the groove being moved back down to the bottom now. I must've missed something. What did they do to the track?
