2018 SRD Truck Series - Race 12 - Homestead Miami

Lap 27: Brendon Hancock has just gotten by teammate D.J. Harris for the 14th position, their other teammate Dom Karda running just behind. Hancock announced a few weeks ago that he would be bringing his own team, Brendon Hancock Racing, to the trucks series in 2019. Hancock will help a couple new faces find their way into the series as well with Brett Gray and Joey Kraus wheeling his trucks.

Lap 29: The field, for the most part, is now down to single file, with a few guys stepping out here and there. J.R. Franklin who has been advancing fast to catch Sean English has fallen now to tenth, while English continues to run inside the top five. English was the series runner-up in 2016.

Lap 30: Jon Peterson and Scott Yost are the only two currently not in contact with the main pack, they are 9 seconds behind.

Lap 31: The first round of green flag stops have started. Dalton leads about half the field onto the pit lane as English, Blanford, Franklin, and a handful of others stay out another lap.

Lap 32: Everyone else now coming down for their stops as Jesse Dalton will win the race off pit road followed by Alex Miller and Ray Tustin.. Actually Sam Ballard is still on track and has just lapped the leaders.

Lap 34: Ballard has come down and we have cycled through pit stops. Jesse Dalton will regain the lead followed by Alex Miller, Ray Tustin, Sean English, Noah Joyce, and Matt Wichelman. The field has REALLY spread out over the round of stops.

LAP 37 (LEAD CHANGE): Sean English gets the run on the bottom with help from Ray Tustin to clear Jesse Dalton. Wichelman will follow to take third.

Lap 41: J.R. Franklin is lurking behind the leaders we come to six to go in the opening stage.

Lap 45: Jacob Craigo has managed to rally from a 28th place starting position to make his way all the way up into 11th right now.

Lap 47 CAUTION/END STAGE: Sean English will come across the line and take the caution as he wins the opening stage at Homestead. After starting on the pole, English has really shown he wants this championship today running mainly in the top five.

Lap 48: Everyone heads to the pits, Sean English will win the race off followed by Wichelman and Althen.

Lap 52: English leads us back to the green, just over 40 laps to determine a champion! Everyone off to a clean start, English has the advantage of having the lapped Yost start on the bottom so no one can get a look too quickly. The 6 will lead that time by.

Lap 53: Here comes Matt Wichelman getting a nose under English but he won’t get it to stick. This is the final run for the team known as Matt Wichelman Motorsports as they will merge with OPP, Inc. for the 2019 season. Dominik Karda scored the teams only career victory at Las Vegas earlier this season but I’m sure Wichelman would love to get one final win for himself.

Lap 55: J.R. Franklin has made his way into the top five, his only job now is to hunt down English in that 6 truck. Thats the only thing that matters in this championship format, finishing ahead of everyone else. Nothing else matters other than being the first truck across the line.

Lap 57: Lap after lap, English continues to fend off Wichelman’s attempts to make the pass on the bottom. This has proven difficult to do all day. 28th place starter Jacob Craigo now moves into the fifth position.

Lap 62: Matheus Fiorentini continues to run outside the top twenty like he has been doing all day, after winning last week it looks like his momentum may have pulled a Michael Waltrip and gone to the wrong track.

Lap 64: This cat in the 10 truck will not give up. I know they say persistence is key but I think wearing the hell out of your tires trying to make a pass is the complete opposite of that.

Lap 70: Twenty five laps to go, Sean English has definitely locked up the most laps led today, not like that gets you an award anymore but great job anyway, Sean! We know that if we go green the rest of the way we will definitely need to stop for tires and fuel one more time, so I’m not ruling anyone out just yet.

Lap 72: Look at John Hooper Sr. right there making his way back into the top five. How awesome it would be for him to have a good run in his final SRD Truck Series appearance.
