2019 SRD SuperTruck Series - Round 3 - Myrtle Beach

Lap 73: Kraus continues to battle Kunkel for the lead. Joey doesn’t want to give up a chance for that Playoff point that comes from winning the stage.

Lap 75: Kunkel now clears the 69 and puts the lapped Craigo between them.

 

Lap 78: Kurz continues to drop now outside the top ten as Sean English has snuck his way up to the fifth position. Ryan Wayne again has his truck in eighth and Ruiz has managed to make his way to 11th. What it would mean for one of these two to have a good season debut.

 

Lap 80: Reza Maulana hasn’t been a factor today, unlike his two rookies who have been in and out of the top ten. Maulana loses the 17th spot to Ehresman.

 

Lap 82 (Stage End): A couple laps late on the end of the opening stage (I wasn’t paying attention). Tim Kunkel leads us to the yellow and picks up the stage win and his first Playoff point of 2019.

Lap 83: Most of the leaders will put but we do have a few stay out.

Brett Gray our leader currently, Ryan Wayne and Jason Blanford had stayed out the first time around but went into the pits with the lapped cars.

 

Lap 86: Here comes Gray dropping to pit lane, D.J. Harris will assume the lead ahead of Robert Kurz now. Ehresman and Caudill also stayed out and will line up third and fourth, Thomas in fifth.

 

98: "We still had a serious lack of pace huh... This car is really all over the place in terms of pace."
98 CC: "We'll try our best with the changes that we will do in the pit stops."
98: "(sigh) Hopefully it'll work..."

 

JB74: Do you really think that we should have stayed out?

74CC: Absolutely...

 

Lap 87: What in the Sam Hell?! While we were lined up ready to go back to green Robert Kurz dives out of the outside lane heading for pit road. He makes contact with Craigo in the process and they crash into the tire barrier at the end of pit road. Pace truck will come back out for an extra lap while we clean up this mess. Craigo was able to back out of it but not without making some contact with Brett Gray and Sean English.

 

Lap 88 (Green Flag): Harris leads us back to green, he won’t get the best start and some of the lapped trucks jump out ahead of him. Word out of the SRD Officials hauler, Kurz and his crew chief have been called to the hauler at the conclusion of the event.

 

Lap 91: Harris will dive to pit lane for service which means last season’s wins-leader Mike Ehresman will acquire the lead just ahead of Caleb Farrell in second. Farrell was in danger of going a lap down not 20 laps ago, this is a nice recover for the 67. Kraus and Kunkel get by Caudill for fourth.

Lap 92: Another guy who was struggling early, Josh Remington is currently running in ninth just ahead of Connor Root.

 

Lap 93 (CAUTION #2): Car into the fence turn four!… Literally. There is a car IN THE (invisible) FENCE! Jon Peterson made contact with Ruiz heading into three, they slid up and collected Jennings and Craigo.


Craigo is going to need some help down, he is stuck on that outside wall.

 

Lap 95: A few leaders on pit road, Kraus and a couple others. Kunkel will assume the lead ahead of Wichelman and Merzlak, points leader Root in fourth.

Lap 97: Kunkel changes his mind and takes his truck to the pits giving the top spot to Wichelman. Joshua Hawkins has spent most of his day in the back of the field but he just moved into the top five.

 

Lap 99 (Green Flag): Just over 60 laps remain we are back to green! Wichelman gets a good run off of turn two and will clear the lappers with help from Merzlak in the 1.

 

Lap 100: Merzlak dives to the pits! We’re hearing from pit road that some teams are unsure of whether or not they have enough fuel to make it the final 60 laps.

Maulana makes his way off pit road as Wichelman puts him a lap down. Connor Root right behind the 10 and then a heap of lapped traffic before we get to Ryan Wayne and Sean English in third and fourth.

 

98: "Oh F***. Hope @Tyler Jennings is OK."
98 CC: "Yeah, that's a scary crash. Also, I think we hear a conversation of Peterson from the end of Stage caution saying he's going to, quote, send it. He really mean it I guess."
98: "Well that's called tempting fate if I ever saw one."

 

Lap 103: English gets caught up top, he’ll lose at least four spots as Fiorentini, Farrell, Rogers, and Harris get by.

 

JB74: I see people ducking off. How we looking boss?
74CC: all good brother. All good.
