I Noticed a post below but it didn't really help me solve my problem.

I have 3ds and Brazil r/s, I Can create renders with no problem, where the problem comes in is adding the reflection to the model?

You can see my model below, i used a 2 car set the file included the hdr file, i added it through the Render - Environment and then it shows it in the Environment Map as chdri.hdr, but theres no effect? Am i missing a step or doing something completely wrong? Im new to all this so this is for sure a possibility!

Thanks!!

Open up the materials panel

Click on a texture ball that your not using

Now scroll down to where you see "Diffuse"

Click the little box to the right of it

Click "Bitmap" in the box that pops up

Choose your car texture

Click the parent button. (It looks like an arrow pointing up. It should be in the top right)

Now scroll down to maps

Click "Reflection"

Click Raytrace in the box that pops up (Make sure "Environment" is clicked)

Click the parent button again

Set Reflections to about 15 or 20

Now your car will reflect nicely

I would suggest to make some thin tall boxes (about 3 or 4) in a crescent shape around your car and one laying horizontal above the car.

Open your material browser again and select an unused texture ball.

Set the color to white and set the Ambient Light to 100%

Now the car(s) will have more reflections on them because they are reflecting the white boxes.

I hope this helps.

The easiest way to setup a reflection in Brazil:

1) Create a "Brazil Basic Mtl" material in an empty material ball
2) Under Maps
a) Set your diffuse to your template
b) Set your bump to the bump map for the template
c) Set the Enviroment to an HDR file (like chdri.hdr)
3) Drag the material ball to the car that you're rendering.
4) Render

Brazil automatically calculates all the lighting so you don't need to set up a lighting scene with boxes. If you find that you're not happy with the level of shine that the car is producing you have a few options.

Off the top of my head:
1) Turn up the amount of the environment
2) Change to a different HDR file, different files give different effects
3) Tile or Mirror the HDR file
4) Change the Specular Level and Glossiness (mine are usually 70 and 20 respectively)

I haven't had much success with #3 but it is possible to improve the reflections using it.

Thanks a lot guys! Worked perfect! Doing your own lighting sure is tricky, i like using pre-made hdr's. Some people have amazing talent!
