Great article. He makes a lot of good points.

When NASCAR started, France was genuinely interested in the drivers. I don't think Piggy France and HugeHead Pemberton give a damn about the drivers. They are dicks...and they come off as dicks.

NASCAR is all about the $$$ today when it used to be about the drivers, fans, and racing.

Never been a Mike Harmon fan, but I think this article makes me one.

What about Erik Darnell? he has finished 83.9% of his races, compared to paltry numbers by his teammates that have run over 10 races: 6.4% for Josh Wise, 3.8 for Chase Miller, and 2.2% for Scott Speed? at least they have 1 driver attempting all the races. Rick Ware Racing sure has some down numbers also, but they have Timmy Hill. just my 2 cents.

Josh Wise and Scott Speed are Curtis's S&P drivers while Darnell runs the full race in hope of a good finish, Rick Ware on the other hand runs Timmy Hill full time and runs the 41 occasionally with another driver such as Ralph Earnhardt. Although he does run the 15 with other drivers though (Charles Lewendowski) just for start and park races unsponsored and usually with a Chevy chassis and when he has Ralph driving the car he runs a new ford chassis.

Personally I agree S&P needs to stop. As a Blaneiac that may sound contradictory, I'm a fan of the driver not the practice. They aren't racers if that's all they're out there to do. i think if you "blow an engine" within the first 20% of the race without it being certified by an official, you have to sit out the next 20 races. Yes 20.

I was pissed when I read that the people on MRN didn't even read the S&P drivers because they didn't deserve it, that's just being ignorant

Sounds like a steaming load of crap to me. MRN is usually pretty good at doing full field run downs.

Now, I think it is wrong that I get a "warning" for saying "da**" and he gets nothing for saying "pi****". What do you guys have against me? I get slammed with a warning or infraction constantly yet I look around and no one else does. What gives? What did I do to make you upset?

I wonder how long Mike has been holding that in for. Once he got going, it was like opening the flood gates.

I feel for him though, and I think it was a good read, especially for those who dont truly understand the world of a S&P team. A lot of people say they do, and they may in a more general sense, but I think most people cant actually relate it or put it into perspective. And I think he did a pretty good job of it.

These teams are not living an easy life at all. They have to work twice as hard trying to make it in the big leagues with a local short track type operation. Everything from not having enough money to race, to preparing a legal car for NASCAR competition (which is NOT easy at all), and doing it all with less people than you can count on one hand. As Mike said, they arent doing it to make a living, they're doing it because they live for racing, and the only other option is sitting on the couch and watching.

They aren't racers if that's all they're out there to do.

Thats not all they're out there to do. They dont have enough money to run the full race. You cant buy $15,000 worth of tires, plus pay crew and personnel, if you dont have that money to begin with. Its no different than going into the store and wanting to buy a $2000 computer, but only having $500.

Just as a headsup, the only infractions that you can view are your own. Only admins can see other people's infractions.

Been there, done that. I used to buy good used tires from my opposition but obviously the circumstances differed. It's a hard life they lead and you can only hope they get a break. Passion is a double edged sword.

So why does MRN do them and FOX/TNT/ESPN don't, is it time constraints or the producers don't want to?

I'm not sure, but I know that in every MRN race I've ever heard, they they will give a full starting grid at the beginning and at least one full running order update where if a car has parked, they usually mention it's in the garage or just off. I'm guess MRN does that because they don't have the benefit of the ticker like television broadcasts do.

It's alright, calm down dude. I think we may have a nisunderstanding between our mods about the whole rule about cussing. And I believe we're working on trying to get it figured out :).

Oh, I'm calm. Thanks for clarifying. I don't act in any manner that I don't act in other forums. I try to keep it clean but little stuff makes me voice my opinion and sometimes the DUMBEST of things gets me an infraction while the mods - themselves - can use the same tone, attitude, and "incivility" that they punish me for. It's like a "Do as I say - Not as I do." Policy. It's just - it's frustrating when I am never way outside of the boundaries and I get slammed. It's like $100 ticket for 26 in a 25.

Yeah. Constantly. You've not been given a warning or infraction since April. That's how constantly you're getting them. And of all the warning/infractions you've ever gotten, only ONE has been for inappropriate language. That's how badly we're totally on your case dude. Yup, even though we have tens of thousands of registered members, and you haven't gotten so much as a warning in six months, everyone's just looking at you & you alone. c.c

About your "incivility" you've not gotten one single infraction for incivility. Not a single one. Yet you're going to whine like a two year old about something you've never, not once, received an infraction for, and overzelaous moderating that doesn't actually happen? DON'T THINK SO!!!

Enjoy your vacation. When you come back, and sometime in the future actually have facts to back up a ridiculous rant like this, bring them to our attention. Until then, you really need to get off this "Oh, I'm being oppressed by these overbearing, hypocritical moderators who beat me up and take my lunch money" kick. ONE warning since APRIL doesn't mean there's some grand conspiracy against you, or that any of us are going outside our purview as moderators.

Don't hijack a thread like this again.

We now return everyone else to your regularly scheduled Nationwide field reduction topic.

Well, it's not like this is a new thing for the Busch/Nationwide series at least.

I'm pretty sure they had like 31 cars at one point, not as a limit but just a shortage of teams back in it's early years...

Unless I'm thinking of the Cup Series back in 1985-1990.

I think it was cup, if I recall it right. I know I heard that some were in my 27 years on this earth.
