Okay, I've always wanted to do this scene. I really think a lot of the people here who render could benefit from this scene and I'm sure it will be awesome when it's done. I had a scene like this but I used a backdrop. No Good! So I'm doing it all 3d so you can have realistic reflections and shadows, etc...

Here is the first tease.

I only use Mental Ray. And this is being built in 3dsmax 9 so it should be usable by the lot of you.

Looks cool so far. I'm not real fond of the colors, but thats just my opinion.

Keep it up man.

Someone post a flat so I can test this scene out with a car and not a black blob. Thanks. And please, a SRD template car since this will be in the downloads for SRD and I will prolly use it as a screen shot.
And mainly because I only have the bump maps for the SRD cars.

I'm gonna post another pic as soon as I figure out how to make florescent lights.

I know it's WAY over the top with the florescent lights and I need to lower the ceiling. This thing also takes an ass load of time to render. SOOOOOOOO I might just not do florescent lights and find another solution. Any ideas? What do you think?

looks nice, really bright though, is there a way to lower the light level of the top units and then i would eliminate the side ones altogether. just my personal preference.

Hey alan. I agree its to bright. My mistake was having global illumintaion on. So I turned that off. I have a light in front on each light panel and knocked the brightness down. It looks a lot better now and I will post a render shortly. I based this off the raptor paint booth and I want each light to be there so the shadows are correct.
