A question about logos

Do you know what grinds my gears is when you see a really nice logo from google or yahoo but you cant use it cause of the color of it now im not talking about the paint bucket thing i mean like for instecne when your base scheme goes over the hood lets say leapeord spots alright and the logo is white how could i put that on but you know what i mean.

Have you try useing the earser to rub out the white edges

Instead of eraser, you may want to use layer masks. That way if you make a mistake, you can just erase part of the mask and not affect the layer at all. I know GIMP can do it because I've used alpha stuff before in it. Let me know what you work out!
