hey guys,

dose anybody no how to stop the ai cars ploughing into each other after the pace car comes out, it really bugs me because i avoide the slow cars and end up with hardly anbody to race with by the end of 100% distance race. its mainly at martinsvill but sometimes at lowes, the yellow comes out, we race to the line i slow down and every body else rams the car in front !

i dont want to change the aggression settings or any other driver ratings if possible because ive got it just about rite for most tracks, at 100% distance with 98% ai i get really close racing with a little bumping and its a challenge to try and make the top ten, and i seem to get a fairly realistic number of ai cautions e.g.talladega/daytona 4-5
bristol 8-11
atlanta/texas 6-7 etc etc

its just that martinsvill leaves me 2-3 laps ahead of second place with most other cars wrecked to the point they struggle to set 24 second laps after around halfway and at lowes a crash on the front straight by backmarkers causes havoc the leaders always hit the wrecked/slow moving cars even 15-20seconds after the wreck. is there anway to stop this?

many thanks mike

Try lowering the d_longpad_scale.I've gone as low as 0.20.
Usually try to stay between 0.50 and 2.00.

There can be fewer ai caused cautions this way too it seems.
I've raised it back up at some tracks to offset this.Just have to find
the sweet spot.It may also help the ai corner faster,so some strength
adjustment might have to be made.

It doesn't stop the massive slowdown at the short tracks altogether, but
seems to limit the wrecking at least. At the larger tracks, cautions can be
fairly civil.lol

The d_longpad_scale is a line in the track ini.

You need to get to the Martinsville track folder.
Then open the track config settings to get the Martinsville
notepad.

Just scroll down to find the line and make the change.
(Make sure if your using cts or gns physics you scroll down farther
to see if there is a section for the one your using.)
I also change the wall_offset to around 30 for short tracks.
That may also help.

Depending on which Martinsville your running, some more track grip
can help with ai crashes. Not sure if this would apply to grip under caution?

Those changes help me at Martinsville.I've made some other changes also and
just ran 125 caution free laps a couple nights ago.lol

Takes a lot of experimenting to get the number of cautions right.Mostly either
too many or too few.

Isnt there a line for following distance under caution? You would think changing that number would help....
