Automatic Rendering

I have been approached by a prominant figure in the racing community most of you know of the place anyway was asked how I felt about making some scenes for an automated rendering site. Wow I was intrigued to say the least so I got more in-depth with him and actually took the thing for a test drive and I must say I was very impressed.

What I want to know is what you guys think about being able to just pop into a website upload your tga (or maybe the carfile) and select what background ya want and then hit render and in a few minutes have one pop out?

That sure would be sweet. If this comes about, I sure hope they would put it on a major traffic site. I don't think I could even imagine the hits a site like that would take.....lol.

Ten0r's Render Shop is like that but you only have two scenes to choose from, but a variety of mods to choose from.

Well it appears that will be the only option... since it has been made clear the models will not be available. Kinda ashame... since alot of guys seem to have personalized their renders (even though their perspective may be off) from the nice base render scenes made available by kind souls like yourself.

That would be pretty neat! It would probably help a lot of people out and help cut render requests down to specialized ones. That is a pretty good idea if they can get it to work!

Maybe my bad... I just had a thought that this my be referring to the long awaited sim that has been being released for the last year but has not to date. I've read that the models for the this long awaited sim would not be available to the public. Alot of talk about this not yet released sim has been the buzz for some time now. Supposed to be the next greatest thing.

Would this rendering thing be something like what I remember being out a while back for I believe the SCE mod for rfactor? I thot I remembered the downloads having HTML stuff in it for sites. I'm prob wrong, since this old age thing makes me forget alot.......HEHEHE.

Sounds like a great idea, will need a good range of scenes to choose from tho.
question is will ya have enough people to pump out the renders.

No DTR your talking about the HTML viewer. Rogue no people involved its all done by max script and a server. lol

Yea unlike my website, what smoke is talking about is something I've been trying to figure out how to make happen. There are a few ways it can be accomplished, but I've never been able to sit down and program it.

The way my site is setup is that I personally render the cars. When I get time, I throw them into max and then send them through the site (which sends them through email). The way this works is a script automatically runs and creates the render, then sends it back to you.


I think this idea is astonishing. I for one would love it. Heck if I could get the code, I can probably take care of some of the bandwidth issues (unless it's on it's own dedicated line) that the site would generate.

From what I understand these render's will be scanline! If it were me why waste my time on a scanline when I can come here and have smoke,DTR,Onion or someone else do a sweet brazil render? That's just my thought.:skeptical: I would like to see a good scanline here if it can be done. Show me the money shot boss! Prove me wrong... Was that just a challenge? Ha...guess it was!

Hey smoke, would there be a way this person can write up a short guide on how to set up what he's got. Doesn't have to be in detail, just some general guidelines on how to get it to work. I've got a few computers I can set up a render farm on, but I can't figure out how he's got it setup.

As for them being scanline or Brazil...we all love Brazil, but to have the renders done without questions and sent automatically, I'd take it. I know there are too many people on here who request a render and don't get one done. This will help people who don't see a need for a brazil render, but want one that stands out versus the carviewer and ingame shots.
