....Sigh does anyone know where I can fill out an application for the " NTG2011 seemed awesome at first but now is a big disappointment" club"?

Cover art looks great and on the plus side of this pushed back date is that it wont be as long of a wait for the 2011 patch.
The line can start right next to the GT5 line................:(

iRacing's not a step up from NR2K3, it's a step sideways. I tried it last year and liked it at first, I had my mind set on NASCAR and Grand AM so I bought those initially. But oh jeez, the legends races, THE LEGENDS RACES. I started ten. I got wrecked in 10. My SR went from 3.47 to 0.16 thanks to that. So I tried road side of things. I've kept my SR stable there.

On topic, I'm annoyed at it being delayed till March, I'm hoping it won't be a disappointment.

Two questions:
1. I have a preorder on this game, does that mean I still get it before Daytona or in March (sorry I've never preordered a game before) and
2. When they say 2011 patch comes on a DLC, do I need XBOXLive to download it? Because I don't have live.

1. You'll get it in March.
2. You need Xbox Live to download the 2011 patch.

Man...this game keeps getting better and better...

...and lol at Jimmie turning right on the cover. Knew this game was gonna fall on its face.

Not to mention three cars racing on the apron at Bristol.

The box is a HORRIBLE photoshop. Did you notice how small the apron is? It's DOVER! They put Bristol logos on DOVER. Seriously, what the crap is this.

Judging a game you don't seem to like based on it's cover art is huge reach. Also, you do realize that Bristol and Dover are both concrete ovals, right? I would love to see what evidence you have to prove that the track in the picture is indeed Dover. If you can't provide a solid argument, you're just griping for the sake of griping.

I wish they'd bring it to PC. It'd open up the modding world and revive the Sim Painting community so well if we had a game with more realistic physics and models...

Oh no, they got some details wrong on the cover, what a tragedy.

Dammit. The two answers I didn't want. But don't worry, I won't kill the messenger lol.
you can still get XBL free as long as you have an internet connection to the 360. XBL silver still allows you to download things, you just can't play online or anything like that.

These guys better come up with something soon

Why these guys? It's not an exclusive license, TSF, ISI, Codemasters, Turn 10, SimBin, Big Ant, Exotypos, Kunos Simulazioni, The guys that develop Live for Speed, Warthog Games, Ubisoft, Hasboro/Atari/Infogrames, Juiced Studios, Criterion, EA, XS Games/Jester Interactive, System 3, and the list goes on and on and on..... I'm sure if one of those developers with a Racing game history thought a PC NASCAR game would be worth making they would.

Heck you yourself could go the TSF route and start you're own development company and make your own NASCAR PC game the exact way that you want it.

...and lol at Jimmie turning right on the cover.

Looks like he's being wrecked or Saving it.

Not to mention three cars racing on the apron at Bristol.

The #21 car appears to be coming out of the pits, the #43 car I don't know what it's doing, and there is no 3rd car down there.

The box is a HORRIBLE photoshop. Did you notice how small the apron is? It's DOVER! They put Bristol logos on DOVER. Seriously, what the crap is this.

The entire thing looks like a render/completely CG to me. Also if you're gonna try to bash it by saying it's another track you should at least not make yourself look like an idiot doing it. Dover has grass, gee no grass in that image on the box.

That shot appears to show the middle of the turn, here are some measurements from the inside wall to the edge of the apron taken in the middle of the turn.
Dover 1 & 2 = 68ft
Dover 3 & 4 = 65ft
(as of July 2010)

Bristol 1 & 2 = 50ft
Bristol 3 & 4 = 50ft
(July 2006, so before reconstruction)

Unfortunately Google Earth doesn't have an image of post-rebuild Bristol, but I highly doubt they made the apron bigger, so so actually by the numbers Bristol does in fact have a smaller apron then Dover.

So that's "3-strikes you're out" right?
Strike 1 = You think it's actually a real picture that was edited
Strike 2 = You think it's Dover despite Dover having grass and the boxart not
Strike 3 = You think it's Dover because the apron looks small, when in fact Bristol does have smaller aprons then Dover.

I've been saying that for years, don't announce the release date till it's like 2 weeks from being released (by that time the disc should have started printing)

Your first question was answered but for your second question, I don't have a 360 so I may be wrong (this is info I've gathered from reading various things) that as long as you internet hooked up to your console you have live. It's called "Live Silver" or "Live Free", basically you can get patches & buy DLC but you can't partake in any online gaming. Maybe somebody else can explain it a bit better then I can.

I wish they'd bring it to PC. It'd open up the modding world and revive the Sim Painting community so well if we had a game with more realistic physics and models...

I think the modding aspect is the reason there hasn't really been many PC racing games lately and most of the high-quality ones (other then rFactor) have been pretty locked down to modding. I mean sure there are ways around it, but it's not as easy as it once was.

look at the wii box... dover does not have suites in the turns. so they screwed up the apron size.. big deal, I wouldn't care cuz I won't be driving on the apron :twitcy:

Actually, it's due to the horrendously large scale pirating going on rather than the potential of user-created mods affecting sequel sales. The PC industry is starting to die because of all of the pirating going on by people that don't want to pay for squat. Developers online have MORE than 90% of their materials pirated, and the makers of Crysis said that for every copy of that game that they sell, TWENTY MORE ARE PIRATED. Hell, some extremely stupid torrenting site even admitted that the game "Spore" was downloaded nearly 2 million times in a FREAKING month from them, how the **** are they still even up?

A crying shame: World of Goo piracy rate near 90 percent
Gamasutra - News - Crysis Developer Puts Piracy Ratio At 1:20

This is why I can't wait for all torrenting sites to die forever. If people can't buy it, that doesn't give you the right to steal it, all they are doing is killing industries and driving companies into states where they either disappear forever or are inhibited from making new games, usually to the point that a good deal of companies are going back to consoles and not using PC as a platform anymore, and I'm sure it's a major factor in the decision for the NTG2010 team not to go to computers.

About the Xbox situation. If the DLC is free (I believe so), you can download it. However, if it's not, you need Microsoft Points (which you can buy at Walmart). If you want to play online, you NEED Xbox Live Gold.

Since they're developing a Xbox 360 version, it's isn't near as hard to port it over since the same tools can essentially be used to develop Windows based applications and games just as easy. Not to mention they already have the license to develop NASCAR games and most the hard work is already done. Heck, it would probably take them not even a year to make a working PC version. Do these developers not see NASCAR fans buying $300 or more wheels, getting 2 or more monitors hooked up, spending money to upgrade their PC's, people constantly asking for something that doesn't require a monthly fee or are they just that damn blind?

iRacing is a bunch of damn liars plain and simple and has been proven already in court documents so it's more likely they're also lying about their user base considering the fact that they don't delete your information after cancelling your account. Those users are still prolly being used to tally up the ridiculous numbers they like to throw out in public to make them seem bigger than they really are. Eutechnyx should have looked a bit deeper into that before deciding not to make a PC version at this time.

1. I don't think that ed martin and the entire team have said no to having a PC release of a nascar game just yet, yes NTG2011 wont be released but i feel with the massive amount of "I WANT IT ON PC!" banter over at the NTG forum it is a serious consideration for them. I mean look at nascar heat it was released on the PC about a year after the console release and is still around today thanks to the mod squad.

2. Its been said already about live so no need in reinforcing that.

3. (the track) OK correct me if im wrong but didn't the same people cry about the brownish tint and the weird crumpling sheet medal and the grandstands and catch fence height? Seriously folks it is a game that is in its first year of development with about 35% of the nascar knowledge the people at SRD have just to set a standard here so its not like when they built every detail and drew it down they'd be correct to exact specs give these guys time, and lets be thankful for christ's sake that we are getting a nascar console game that is just that and not some crappy cart game for the wii again.
