I have to believe that this:

2007 Samsung 500 - Texas Last 11 Laps - YouTube

had something to do with it.

It might have, but $$$$$$$$ from concession sales is what put it over the top. Who wouldn't want to have a big chunk of what Jr. sell? Did you notice that RH wanted no part of bringing the #8 over? New number means more sales. And Jr. is alot easier to deal with, and he is very sponsor friendly.

Did you notice how Hendrick couldn't bring the #8 over because DEI maintained its claim on the number despite Dale Jr's departure? Despite have ruling power over numbers, Nascar has never, to my knowledge, forceably removed a number from a team who had run it & wanted to keep it for next season, and given it to another team.

More interesting, Jayski- "Rumors floating around that A.J. Allmendinger could be headed to the #22 Penske Dodge and David Ragan to the #43 RPM Ford"

It would be cool to see AJ back with Dodge, this time with the top Dodge team.

Its a mistake in my eyes. I feel AJ has more of a future than David. I dont see how he could get sponsored in the 43 but not the 6 ether.

Did you notice that Rick Heendrick didn't try?? Jr. sort of did, but his fans were the ones that wanted the number. Rick never brought up bringing the #8 to HM.

And, AJ might be the big winner in the Kurt Busch/Best Buy story. IF, I were RP I would rather have AJ than Ragan.
This would keep Ragan in the Roush/Fenway fold, as would him going to the #71.
"Silly Season" just keeps rolling along.XD

I think Penske's better than RPM at the moment, plus as long as Shell/Pennzoil is staying with the 22 then I think AJ will be fine as long as his results are good.

AJ would come out pretty good in the deal but would rather see him stay in a Ford. Ultimate dream is him in the 6.
