As another decade of NASCAR racing draws to a close this weekend, I thought I'd put up a post for members to nominate what they think the best race of the last 10 seasons was

Any Winston/Nextel/Sprint Cup, Busch/Nationwide and Craftsman/Camping World Truck Series race is elligible for nomination, from Daytona 2000 to Homestead-Miami 2009

Once everyone who wants to have their say has had their say (by 31/12/09), the votes will be totalled and a winner will be decided. In case of a tie-break, races will be put against each other in one final vote

There were many great races across all 3 divisions, but my vote goes to the 2007 Daytona 500 for one of the most heart-stopping final parts of the race I've seen

Now it's your turn...

Kurt Busch/Ricky Craven at Darlington in (I think) 2003. THE closest finish in NASCAR history and an awesome last few laps.

Its either the 03 Darlington race with Craven (what happened to that guy, anyway?) and Busch or the 07 Daytona 500

Craven/Busch at Darlington! I was there and a close second would be Harvick/Gordon at Atlanta!

2001 daytona 500. other than the last lap, it has to be considered one of the best races ever

To me the two best races of this decade was the 2003 and 2007 Truck races at Daytona 3 wide for the win! can't beat that, lol

Also the 2004 July Nationwide race at Daytona when Mike Wallace snuck by for the win and the 2003 BGN race at Darlington when Jamie Mac and Todd Bodine wrecked coming off of turn 4 and cross the finish line crashing.

Couldn't find video of those two.

*Busch and Craven at Darlington-2003- Cup
*Edwards and Johnson at Atlanta-2005- Cup
*Kenseth, Edwards, and Biffle at Dover-2008- Cup
*Darnell and Benson at Michigan-2008- Trucks
*Martin, Burton, and Kenseth at Darlington-2000- Busch

There's many others, but I just can't think of them.

that race is rigged! Nascar fixed it!

lol can't do all caps anymore

the only problem with a race being "rigged" is the fact that anything can go wrong during a 400 mile race so there is absolutely no way anyone can rig a race

I seriously hope you were being sarcastic anyone who works on cars can easily tell you anything can go wrong at any second.

A number of factors could have happen
-he could have gotten ill before the race
- he did just narrowly miss crashing in that race cant script how those cars move when they wreck
-could have blown an engine

as for my race of the decade is Jrs 500 win that was a close to an old fashion daytona race as you could have gotten when 4 cars broke away to settle the victory.

I closely follow that by the Win from Harvick in the 500 and Stewart's Victory at Indy

'01- Gordon vs. Harvick (Alanta)
'03-Craven vs. Busch (Darlington)
'06-Gordon vs. Kenseth (Chicago)
'07-Harvick vs. Martin (I wish Mark won)(Daytona)
'07-Mcmurray vs. Busch (Daytona)

My all time favorite:

'01- Jr. and Waltrip 1-2 in the 400

07 Daytona 500
01 atlanta
01 Rockingham not because of close battle but for all the emotions running that week leading to Park winning for DEI
03 Darlington come on besides the 07 Daytona I will never forget those 2 beating eachother up to the line

I can't believe i forgot the 01 atlanta race or the 03 darlington

01 second Dover race cause of the emotions running through the nation at the time
01 Dega 2 cause I mean one heck of an ending decided on which way burton went after the big one
Gordon and Rusty at Bristol lol who could ever forget that ending.
07 Phoenix Spring race Gordon finally winning there and his tribute to Dale
though I hate the guy the 08 spring Daytona nationwide Race buschs move to block for Tony, Which i thought it was dumb in one aspect it was exciting to watch someone just give for his teammate I hate Kyle but that was one of his best moves by far.
07 400 at daytona with Jamie just beating out Busch that was nail bitting and had the whole bar rockin

Actually, the closest was a truck race in 1995.

2000 Winston 500
2001 Atlanta (Spring)
2002 UAW-GM Quality 500

I'll think of more later...

Electronic scoring was in the trucks since it's conception.
