I currently have a wireless router although I have my computer hard wired to it. I want the wireless for my Iphone and a ps3 in the near future.

I have a Linksys WRT 160N. To say that I despise this piece of junk is understating it. WIFI is terrible, and it goes online/offline more times that I want to count, even hard wired into my desktop, it still acts up on me.

Can you guys give me some good recommendations on a quality wireless router?

Well first off, in an attempt to fix your current problems, try these things:
---Upgrade the Firmware
---Change the channel your router is using
---Force the router to G-Only mode
---Try out other firmware like DDWRT and OpenWRT
---Locate any wireless devices in your house that are using 2.4 Ghz and (if cheap) replace them

If the first three don't work well for you, I like the old Linksys WRT54g's....If your desktop is hard wired and you're just after the PS3 and Iphone, you only need a wireless g router. I personally use the WRT54G and have used another with the DDWRT firmware on it and they work beautifully. I recently picked up a Netgear Wireless N router and put the DDWRT firmware on it and it works even better than the WRT54G (in bridged mode which means the signal strength is better).

Words of notice: Stay away from Belkin...I've had nothing but problems with it.

Personally, I love my linksys but dare not get close to their N routers till after N is fully certified. Really any N router is going to come with mixed results until N is fully certified and all devices are using N.

Netgear WNDR3300, thats what I use, have had it for over 6 months and NO Problems whatsoever, had a Linksys before, and all it ever done was go offline all the time, upgraded the firmware, called Linksys tech support and they were of no help. All I can say is trash the Stinksys and go Netgear WNDR3300, it never goes offline, unless you have a power failure....lol

I was using an Airlink model that was an absolute pain. I think the model was AR525W. It would cut in and out all the time and cause problems with logging in. I would have to unplug the router or restart the computers regularly. Complete pain. I can appreciate your frustration. The problems didn't get out of hand until I tried implementing some passwords and security to it and then it just became such a pain I replaced it.

I replaced it with an Airlink Cysco WRT310N. Since buying this router in October, I've had zero problems with it whatsoever. I don't think I've had to reset the modem or the router once and I haven't had any disco issues whatsoever.

I have my racing computer and my ps3 hardwired into the router. Another desktop 2 and a half stories up and 2 laptops that intermittently connect wirelessly. I'd recommend this model.

I use the Apple Airport Extreme. In my opinion it's the best you can buy. It uses Wireless N and it also has a 500GB HD that you can access wirelessly. It's range is outstanding as well. I have three computers hooked into it, and the one i'm on now is hard wired. I use a wireless N USB plug in the back of my other computer and the internet actually runs faster on that than this one. Plus my Macbook Pro already has WiFi built in so I can use it in my backyard and it still works awesome. it costs a little more than a normal router but you get so much more with it.

First rule of thumb is don't mix and match manufacturers... If your desktop has linksys.. then so should your router and everything else. The laptops have it built in i assume so thats not a problem neither is the PS3. I have my PS3, Desktop and Laptop all wired through a 150N Linksys router. Its not the best because i bought it when N was in its infantsy. However it gets the job done. I have had no time where i have had to do a disco or recon on it. For gaming or media streaming i definitely recommend you step it up to a dual band gigabit gaming or media gate series. I am about to upgrade to one next week. I have a 1TB hard drive with all my DVD's digitally encoded to it that i can stream from my desktop to my 360, ps3, and laptop via Nero Media Home. I made the mistake of buying a NETGEAR wireless adapter for my desktop and it works but is finicky with the linksys which is why i say dont mix and match so whatever your preference is use that for all of your systems. Thats my professional opinion with a little extra added in. Hope it helps along with the rest to get you going in the direction you are hoping....

If anyone wants to know how to encode their DVD's, Blu Ray and HD Dvd to a digital copy with nero pm and i will give you a software list and where to get it that will crack all known DVD, Blu Ray and HD DvD encryption algorithms. I have used my system to crack over 1300 dvd's from every company. Disney is the strongest i have ever seen. but it still went down in flames.

Any router that you can then load the Tomato Firmware onto. That is, if you don't mind messing with that type of thing
