I was wondering if anybody has experienced this before. When I am driving certain tracks, whenever I get onto the front stretch the game starts lagging and I see all kinds of weird shapes and colors. What confuses me is, my computer can handle Iracing on max graphics yet it can't handle certain tracks on NR2003?

I get that on certain tracks but very rarely. I tried cws15 at the fse night daytona and it ran smoothly all the way around except coming out of t4 to about the s/f line. Not sure what causes it. Maybe update your gfx drivers.

Yeah I'm not sure either. Last night it was giving me a hard time on Atlanta_2014 track I have. Only on the front stretch though.

How about to try to compress our car files? I guess it should help for new Hi quality tracks such as FSE Daytona (day, night), Atlanta etc! At least it helps for me! I don't have hi end PC (about 8 years old one), but now even on these fresh hi end Daytona releases I can drive without that graphical issues in front stretch.

How do you compress the car files?

With great NR2003 editing tool WinMip2. You can grab it here: http://www.racelinecentral.com/NR2003_tools.html
Then open it, go Extras/NR2003 Car File Editor open car files (loacated in your NR2003 dir/Series/"current mod"/cars) look at your current car and pit textures (should be some of them or both sectors in 16- or 24 bits) and choose compression method (24-bit comp) for car and pit crew too, drag both car and pit crew texture priority's to left end, save (can overwrite it) and voalá now you have your new (smaller in MBs) car file who now eats less your graphic card memory. Of course you should do this for all your current car set if you want to see a difference and without that graphical issue. It's not a complicated process..... but can take some time to compress them all if you have there some 40-50 cars! :)

Glad that it helps! Some time ago it helps for me too. You can drive all new HI graphic tracks without that graphic (fps eating) issue.

I have this issue too. Are you running the game on a laptop? I suspect that for me it has something to do with the switching between onboard graphics and the dedicated video card.

When I open the car files in WINMIP all the settings you listed above are already selected. Does this mean its already been done?

Yep! Probably mod designers already did that! You can look at both sections car and pit crew, if they are both compressed then it's already been done! If there is compressed only one of them (car skin or pit crew) then you can do the same what I wrote above - compress other thing too! There can be one more thing to help if compressing wont help! As I know some mod/carset developers release two type carsets Hi and Low res (for example ex DMR did that kinda things), there is no big difference between these carsets except maybe some graphic level texturing (actually with an eye I don't see between them big difference) and MBs in HDD and of course difference when you running hi quality carsets on new HI graphic tracks... to get straight to the point if your videocard RAM is about 1GB, then HI graphic tracks and carsets both will eat it very fast and for example then in the pits area (front stretch) your graphic card will slow down in fps. And that's the main problem, as far as I know, why this graphic issue happens.

Guys a couple of things I found
First one already addressed If you make sure that all your car and pit crew textures are compressed that is a big help

The other is the texture size you have set. I kept pushing the envelope and raising it to see how much I could clear up surrounding objects at the track, I noticed then at some of our high res tracks and other newer tracks with high texture objects I would get fragmented graphics So I took my highest res track with a very hi res mod and started moving the texture size back down until I found the magic number, all good now Graphics clear and no issues at any track

Cheers,
Freddy

This is what I do. Sound like a long process, but not as long as it sounds. I go to the "player" file and put a "1" beside "import with compression". Then I go to each car file that is on the active roster and export each tga, then immediately import the said file. This has helped me immensely and I do it all the time now on all my mods. This allows me to run all the new high graaphic tracks. Good luck.

It seems to be an Nvidia problem, I haven't heard of it with ATI cards. There's an older thread here about it http://www.simracingdesign.com/threads/screen-with-crazy-graphics.38404/

I recently upgraded from a GTX 460 to a 960 and the problem is exactly the same. Unfortunately being quite an old engine the game doesn't really take advantage of the latest hardware and there are no fps increase with the new card on NR2003).

Like other have said make sure you have all the cars and pit boxes compressed (this can take a while - I've got 870 cars for this years cup) and also run the game in Windows XP SP3 compatibility mode. Also to stop this problem happen at the 2014 Daytona track, which is about the biggest track going, I've recently reduced some of the texture on it and instead of being 141 MB the track is now 90 MB (if you want a copy of the files just PM me).

yeah I noticed uncompressed pit boxes are what really causes major frame drop when driving by pit road. Compressing those really can help.

Ok I can't seem to figure this out :/ A little while back I watched this video and followed the steps. Ever since I did this I've been having these issues... Is there anything here I should undo or do differently? Thanks!!

Here's an easy fix for blurry graphics: Go into your main NR2003 folder and open a file named rend_dxg.ini in Notepad. Find the line that says "TextureSetSize=" and change whatever number is there to -1 (Example: TextureSetSize=-1). This activates the automatic graphics setting and should clear up any blurry cars or track side objects in your game. Hope this helps.

Freddy, I was responding to his post (#17 in this thread) where he watched the video about how to fix blurry graphics. kdw48 also stated in that post that the issues he's having with his NR2003 graphics started after he followed the instructions outlined in the video.
