Any one else wish you could turn in your DVD's for Blu - Ray versions at a discount to upgrade? I know i do. There are some movies I will def be buying again on Blu Ray.

You do know that your old movies can be played in the blue ray player. I see all the time were a movie came out before blue ray even came and the studios release it on blue ray. I think its a waste of money. You will not get high def video from a movie that wasnt shot in high def period. I don't care what they do to it. Its not high def and never will be.

I am not saying it will be a million times better but I have seen some movies that are way old, in blu ray they are alot cleaner and clearer. You dont have to shoot them in HI DEF. Hi def is the raw film in any original. They can go back to the original film and re-analyze it to a better quality with todays equipment. I wouldnt trade them all but there are some that are better quality.

I guess I have seen to many good "remastered" movies on my life. To me it ruins the movie when they redo them. To me its never the same. Kind of like some one did with three great movies from the 70's and 80's. What really set me off was seeing the guy that plays vader in the newer movies at the end of return of the jedi with Yoda and Obi one. But I guess to each its own.

It just like the crispness in the picture. I agree with you on the star wars change out. I didnt really like that. But whatever. Not my call.

Ok I never thought of the crispness. I have seen blue ray movies just dont own any at the moment. It was a remake of pearl harbor. It looked like I was really there. To tell the truth I dont even own many dvds. Thanks to HBO and channels like that I don't need to own movies. I think I have like 20 dvds total. The dvds I own are the movies I can watch more then once. I guess you throw in add and my mind saying that couldnt happen in real life ruins a lot of movies. I tend to stick to movies based on real life stuff. SO I like war moves based on real events of past wars. I think I am the only man that hates the die hard and james bond series.

Since we're NASCAR people....Watch Days of Thunder on VHS, DVD and Blu-Ray. The blu-ray version is ton's better than the VHS and mostly better than the DVD. Yes, the DVD's can be played on the Blu-Ray players, but how long will that last? Some day soon, manufacturers will want to force the market change to only blu-ray. The recession has put it off for now, but it WILL happen either with a change of technology or the MPAA switching to ONLY blu-ray.

I'm ready to turn in some of my DVDs. Having the ability to pay $3-4 a disk at the flea market and upgrading them for $5 to blu-ray is a pretty good deal. The biggest issue I have with it (but I can understand WHY they have to do it) is the 25 disk limit per person/household. If you can make your order cost $35 or more, you get free shipping. Not too shabby. Especially since you get the blu-ray and box and you keep your old DVD box for other storage purposes.

Where do you do your exchanging of DVD's at? I know there are places like game stop for movies and I know i could sell them on ebay or amazon and so on. Just curious how you are doing your exchanges Tenor.

Thanks. I will look through my 1500 movie collection and make a list. I can say that amazon has them alot cheaper then anywhere else though if you were going to buy them again new.

Matrix Trilogy: BB $100, Amazon 64.00
Pirates of the Caribbean Trilogy: 66 at BB, 41 on amazon

its rediculous how much you can save if you go through amazon. I bought just my favorites of all time for now as they update and come out. But Days of Thunder was on my list, Robin Hood Prince of Thieves, Gladiator, a bunch of other.

DoT I purchased at Target since it was the last one and I wasn't about to let it out of my sight. As for DVD2Blu, you're limited to 90 Warner movies and you can only claim a maximum of 25 per person/per household. I don't know if P.O. Boxes would work (or a box at your local UPS Store) but it'd be in the fine print.

[EDIT] That Disney one will be nice to upgrade my girlfriend's collection. Especially if you get to keep your dvds. I knew I had seen it once before, but the Warner one was the big one that drew me since I've got about 10 or 12 dvds that I want to upgrade.
