nr2003 uses an engine writen 11 years ago. Nothing matters more than CPU. Use the next best graphics card you can afford, nothing fancy. Anything 512mb and over is more than fine, but put all your money in the cpu.

Honestly, you can get 70+ frames per second building a pc using at least 4 year old technology for a lot less money and put the rest of it in a good wheel/pedal setup, imo

Other than that, I would only consider XP for an os.

HI!

Best quality settings:

AnisotropicLevel=16
TextureSetSize=-1

Tested with Radeon 4850 on Daytona Revamped 2011.

Hello,

I followed all the advices for the settings in the core.ini and the rend-dxg.ini.

[FileLRUCache]
CacheSize=14194304
[Memory]
MaxBlockSize=524288
minPhsyMemWontUse=0
NumEmptyPools=3
PoolSize=524288
ShowMemStats=0

TextureSetSize=-1

Maxiumim Sound Hears=8

Resolution is 1680x1050

With these settings I only get 14-17 fps when starting a race from from the last grid.

As Hardware I use the components:
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8200
GPU: MSI ATI HD 4800 1GB
RAM: 6GB
Boards: MSI P35 Platinum

Is my Hardware to old to play with all settings at highest level or do I have to reduce some features?

Thanks
&
Regards

felix

Someone has probably said this in an earlier post but at this moment in time I don't have slot of time left till I'm outta the house. But changing the texture set size to 1 also improves the textures of the tracks you race on. I had Mexico_City the track textures where the worst but when i changed texture size all the rubbishly detailed and blurred tracks changed to nice, smooth and better. So it's the tracks not the mod that is causing this FPS problem.

I would take Trivials advice and buy a new Comp/Game laptop. My computer runs 100 FPS at some points And an average of 60-70 (which is plenty). If you don't have the money then save up or wait till christmas and put it on your list to Santa.

I would recommend that before you alter the .INI file and such that you make a backup. Then if you are having issues with FPS change back to the original files until u get a better comp.

I don't think I quite said that, but that IF you're looking at a new box and it's mostly for racing this particular sim, spend all the money you can on the CPU. The sim is too old to take advantage of what GPU's can do today, and memory matters mostly with saving replays.

But he is right that some tracks can kill a frame rate, so make sure you are evaluating the default tracks to be sure it's your box.

You can also try setting the AnisotropicLevel to 0 and calculate the TextureSetSize instead of using 1 for auto. And make sure Vsync is off.

I was trying to link a old post but .... This is not mine but just a summery of an old post in this forum. This Forum has a welth of information and alot of people that will share it willingly.

Un tick the reflections in Nascar 2003. In the players file edit the Player Configeration file under Graphics from

enable_CarMegaShader=0 to enable_CarMegaShader=1
enable_ShadowVolumes=0 to enable_ShadowVolumes=1

Attached is a copy of my file. You'll get reflections on cars but not the windows and gain FPS I like this better then most reflection upgrade Files that are out there.

[Graphic Options]
allow_setting_gamma=1 ; allow setting gamma and brightness
brightness=0 ; brightness adjustment [-50..50]
car_detail=2 ; 0=low, 1=med, 2=high
cockpitLookDeadZone=0.050000 ; 0-1 value for deadzone. 0 is no deadzone.
cockpitLookSmoothingTime=0.055556 ; Time value (secs) used in joystick smoothing
draw_ahead_distance=100 ; draw ahead distance [0..100]
draw_behind_distance=70 ; mirror draw distance [0..100]
enable_CarMegaShader=1 ; set to 1 to enable advanced shaders where applicable
enable_ShadowVolumes=1 ; set to 1 to enable shadow volumes

Just want to say something quick about this. Ever since I've been playing NR2003 the 1024 cars looked really blurry and ugly, so whenever I wanted to make myself a car I had to use a 2048 template so it would look pretty good in-game. My previous rend_dxg settings were 27281408, and I set them to -1 like you guys said and the results are amazing to say the least. All of the signs, grass and track textures, infield objects, cars, everything looks crisp and perfect. Now I've been playing this game for the past couple years on my laptop, while it does have 4GB RAM and a dual core processor, the graphics card sucks. The FPS seem a bit better too, was getting high 20's - low 30's in 43rd on Daytona. Can't say thanks enough for the suggestion guys, really appreciate it.

To eliminate blur textures in BR mod:

go to your NR2003 main folder, open up rend_dxg.ini and add 000 to the end of the texturesetsize. For example, mine was 27281408 and I made it 27281408000.

The best way to do this has already been explained this is never the way to go.

Does the carset that comes with the Bullring 2011 mod have 2048 templates on the cars?

I have a similar frame rate issue with this mod. It's really strange because with the Bullring 2010 mod I have all my graphics tweaked to max plus stuff like the in the renderdxg.ini file maxed out as well and I easily get like 100fps in the 2010 mod. But with the 2011 mod I get like 10fps with the same exact settings. If the new mod has 2048 textures compared to the 1024 that could be the reason why.

I know this is an old thread, but maybe you're still lurking. If I'm not mistaken, the carset that comes with the Bullring mod is 1024x1024. The reason I say this is because the templates that come with it are 1024x1024. Even at only 1024x1024 the cars look crispy clear to me.

I wish all these graphics threads were in one central place.

Thanks for the help guys. Useful read.
