Doesn't seem like your license is up to date or correct. Check your registration tool and make sure it's all punched in correct. When you bought it, you may have gotten an email with all that credential stuff?

a user of this forum gave me the brazil plugin with your patch. but always asks me for the license.

It will be listed in the services if it is running, sometimes it needs a manual start. From windows 7 up it is a pain to get going at times.

you run it from the cmd prompt and as admin most likely. I havent used Brazil in a very long time, so not sure on the admin privilege level requirement. Since its a service thought its a safe bet it will require admin privileges.

sfmgr.exe -start

Type that into the cmd prompt. It will start, if it errors just running it again until it starts with no errors. Sometimes it takes more then once to kick it off.

I thought about installing this and making a video tutorial but I just dont want it on my computer. Just use mental ray, v-ray, or i-ray. They are better and dont require workarounds. They come with 3ds max depending on the version. Mental ray is the most common community wide.

I know the install package comes with instructions. If you read them you shouldnt have any problems.

You can remap it in about 10 minutes just change the render engine to Mental Ray and remap the files. The files to the materials are in the scene folder. Change the render engine selection under Render Settings.

Yeah, I'd certainly go with Mental Ray or V-Ray. V-ray is expensive though and you can get just as good results from Mental Ray if you know what you're doing. All my tutorials are with Mental Ray.

I saw your question. Just havent had a moment to make you a video tutorial. It's the best way I can walk you through what has to happen. Once you learn how to do the remapping and render engine change its a smooth process. I will try to knock something out this weekend.

My preference is mental ray, I did try v-ray once and went back to mental ray. Best way to convert, is map EVERYTHING to a default material, and then remap using mental ray. That way there are no missing leftover brazil errors when you open the scene or render..
