Well, that's Danica essentially locked up the MPD award in the Nationwide Series for 2010 (if she's elligible). The JR Motorsports popularity machine will be going into overdrive now

But I don't see how she's making the jump now. I mean, it's only PT but other guys like Franchitti and Hornish Jr have had success in Open Wheelers, while Danica only has a single win. I would have stayed in Open Wheel until I'd been in contention for the title at the final race at least once. It makes me think that's she's done with IndyCar, achieved all she can achieve. NASCAR may be a step in the wrong direction for now, but the money is there for sure.

However, NASCAR bosses will be cheering as Danica will bring in much more money in merchandise and attendances. I look forward to watching this venture

It's too early to judge her ability to drive in stockcar. Besides, she's not going to race in cup anytime soon - possible after her IRL contract expires. She'll race few and see how she feels and she still have IRL to fallback.

The major problem with Frachitti was that he jumped straight to Cup after he only ran few stockcar races in ARCA and Nationwide then right to cup - he moved up too fast. And they had hard time finding sponsor for him. If he stayed in NASCAR for about 3 years, he could have been much more competitive. Hornish Jr. is still learning... Same thing with Pablo Montaya - he was horrible at beginnig and now he's much improved.

Ohohohoho, it already has. The internet already knows of the nonsense and will slowly, as with all other things, slowly begin to destroy him.

I don't see it destroying him anytime soon, as the Deborah Renshaw thing happened 7 years ago. :p

I don't think that "women don't belong on a race track" as he does, I'm just counting on him giving Danica a warm welcome to NASCAR and ARCA racing.

Also, I like him because he is the only guy that will give Casey Atwood a ride (start & park, but better than not racing at all).

Im not going to be quick to judge her ability. I believe she is a very talented driver. I will most certaintly be pulling for her in the Nationwide Series and whatever else she runs.

The only concern I have is.....

Will she have Robby's Number in Cup :twitcy:
That would make me very angry. But I think when Mark Martin retires. Shes the replacement.

I believe Bires will be the eventual replacement. He's got himself a great ride in the N'Wide Series right now.

We have not seen Danica Patrick in a stock car...thus we cannot judge her ability, and if we judge her by her IndyCar skills, she will be fine.

This will just be another failing indy car driver. Scott Wimmer would have a thousand times more success in a year then Danica could rack up in a career.

Well, at least now we have a competitor that teenagers can perv over.

Why would they Perv over somebody that has the same size chest as a 10 year old boy, and no ass what so ever?

then: Patrick Marries Dale Jr.

She's married to some physical therapist, her real last name (now) is Hospenthal...

There have been many drivers who have succeeded in one type of racing, after failing in another, and vice versa and everything in between. Plus her doing 10 races a year for 3 years is going to help her a lot more then just jumping in full-time.

Also, and this goes for every racer on every level, I'd rather see them try to go to a different type of racing and end up failing, instead of them not going because they are afraid to fail.

As long as she is under contract to Andretti she will either be in the 7 or 07 in NASCAR. Last year when this rumor first started, I mentioned how Andretti will be involved in this and it will lead to an eventual 2-car team (one for Danica & one for Marco), and the Use of the design in the black and the number show me that Andretti is involved some way as at least a silent partner (he just sold off his Powersport chain of stores, so he has a bit of extra money floating around now...)

I believe Bires will be the eventual replacement.

I thought it was Landon "The next big thing" Cassill, no wait that's for Jeff... HMS has had some many drivers in and out of their development program with so much promised to them and all of it not delivered. Marks replacement is going to be Paul Menard or whoever brings the money. I think we (as in people that care, not specifically me or you) need to be more worried who is going to be replacing Jr at HMS before they look at who will be replacing any of their other drivers.

first: Patrick to nascar
next: Patrick finishes first Nationwide race
later: Patrick to cup
then: Patrick Marries Dale Jr./Redneck woman weep
Last: Jr. divorces Patrick

Thats my guess :D

Danica is already married. She married her personal trainer. Mainly I think to get Dan Wheldon to stop hitting on her with the snaggletoothed grin he used to have before his surgery. That guy could have eaten a carrot through a chainlink fence.

I don't think anyone's done a part-time NASCAR schedule while running full time IndyCars since the days when A.J. Foyt & Mario Andretti would race NASCAR. It sure hasn't been done in past 15 years.

There's really no precedence to look to for this. Danica's in for it though. She picked a year when the Nationwide series will alter its car to a COT, and she picked a team that couldn't have a brighter spotlight perpetually on it. This is a huge undertaking for her. I wish her luck.

And they both went on to win the Daytona 500, and in the case of AJ, 6 other races. :notworthy:

Actually, now that I think about it. Al Unser Jr. ran a limited schedule with Hendrick Motorsport in, I believe, 1994. He drove a red, white & blue #46 in that year's Daytona 500, IIRC.

If I have that right, that's scary.

EDIT: It was 1993. I was close there, but I had the number right! And it turned out to be Al Unser Jr.'s lone Cup start, though his initial plan was to run more, and Al wanted to run more NASCAR.

The really scary part is, I can look at the 1993 Daytona 500 results, and rattle off every single car's driver, sponsor, manufacturer, and what the paint scheme looked like from memory. I WAS EIGHT YEARS OLD WHEN THIS RACE RAN! :swoon:

You would be surprised how much a firesuit influences this sort of thing. No, really.

But getting back on topic, I'm glad that this whole deal of rumors is finally over. I honestly grew sick of the sheer amount of speculation and discussion that went into this topic, and now that it's confirmed, we can finally see if she's a cut above the rest. For all we know she might be better in NASCAR than IndyCar. You never know.
