From Jayski...

"Some rules changes in 2014? NASCAR officials are apparently considering a number of possibly significant rules tweaks for 2014:
-- Elimination of the minimum height rule. That would be to end the rather meaningless post-race controversies and penalties for cars being 'too low' after a race. Some worry, though, that such a rule would force teams to discard thousands of dollars of expensive springs. However the current rules have led teams to spend huge sums on very trick springs.
-- Adding roof 'wickers,' similar to used in years past, designed to break up air flow over the roof and presumably make it easier for a trailing car to pass.(Mike Mulhern.net)(10-11-2013)"

Minimum height rule possibly eliminated and the one that most fans that I've seen that has been widely asked for, the "Wicker Bill". Roof wicker possibly added.

I personally think that both rules would be good now.

I started a thread on this earlier, and someone suggested that the source of this article isn't very credible.

Wow...they are actually bringing back the roof wicker bill? After all of these years? Hopefully it can slightly improve the racing by making it easier to pass.

Ah crap, I see your thread now. I checked to make sure this wouldn't be a repeat, but I must have overlooked yours.

Did we just have a hashtag thread title? Did that really just happen?

Wonder if they will bring back that "lip" on the spoiler as well (if they do bring back the roof wicker next season, presumably for plate racing)? Seen below (from 2010 Aaron's 312, the little lip on each spoiler):

If I am correct, this story was also reported by Jim Utter a few days ago or something. This might make drafting easier at the cookie cutter tracks, and may help with passing.

I seriously feel like this will make the racing better. This year's 500 was similar to the 2000 500. NASCAR came up with the new rule package, and the racing became much, much better. I thin history will repeat itself.

So can we start having a cluster fuck at SS races again?!

Implying they (for the most part) haven't been already for the past couple years.

That aside, I'd like to see the wickerbill back for plate tracks, but for some reason I think it'd feel kind of weird anywhere else.

It won't matter if they don't open up the restrictor plate up a little bit.

I'm no scientist or anything but something that worked 10+ years ago on totally different cars/engines won't automatically work on today's cars and packages.

I am glad they are wanting to try new things to improve racing but at the same time I wish they wouldn't touch anything just so the drivers and teams can find their limits and get more comfortable with the current setups and push them more and more.
