BTCC, DTM, WTCC on Speed Winter 2011/2012

Starting Monday December 5th Speed will be showing their annual condescend Winter Coverage of those 3 Touring Car Series.

December 5th
12pm = BTCC @ Brands Hatch Circuit, Kent, England.
1pm = DTM @ Hockenheimring, Hockenheim, Germany.
2pm = WTCC @ Autódromo Internacional de Curitiba, Brazil.

The replay of those 3 events will start at 2am on December 6th.

I wouldn't watch the BTCC honestly, it's gone downhill sharply (mainly the driving standards), the DTM's not a lot better. WTCC's marginally better.

To be fair, BTCC's low driving standards provides lots of entertainment. Surely better than WTCC and ESPECIALLY better than DTM (where everything is over-officiated).

I'm going to disagree, IMO the BTCC needs to tighten it up, it's the top level touring car series here. Lower series would black flag drivers for stuff the BTCC doesn't even consider.

DTM's over officiated? DSMB runs it, it needs to go back to what it was in the late 80s/early 90s. WTCC....that honestly needs to disappear.

Cool, any news on when they are going to show any of the Summer Shootout Series races. SPEED did a few for the first week or two and then stopped(I know one of the pit reporters for the short track stuff there), Just wondering because i race in that series lol :/

No idea, I just happened to be doing my bi-weekly browse through the Speed forums and saw a post about this stuff.

Man, I remember as a kid when I'd have considered the BTCC the premier touring car series in the world. The Supertouring era with the Laguna's, Mondeo's, that odd Volvo estate that was suprisingly good, the Primera's, drivers like Menu, Winkelhock, Cleland, Rydell and my dad often talks about the era in the 80's with the super powerful cars like the Jags and Rover SD1's, Steve Soper, Andy Rouse...

Now they're running puny hatchbacks, driving around like freaking dodgems. Low driving standards (Matt Neal is a Brian Vickersesque crybaby thug and Plato is just as bad), no international endorsement, too few manufacturers... the only thing that retains any quality is the British circuits and they were starting to show their age a decade ago.

The Aussie V8's are so far out in front of the BTCC I almost wish the BTCC would do a rival two make series. At least bring back the big engines!

You know I never figured out why they cant show the whole race. It kinds of bugs me that they take a 1 hour to 2 hour race. Then cram it in a half hour to a hour recap.

Love the DTM series, so I'll definitely be watching these!

BTCC was okay this year, big grids provide some good entertainment combined with some smaller names and privateer teams near the front during most of the rounds.

Didnt watch much DTM this year, the races I did watch, Norisring and RedBull Ring, were pretty good.

WTCC was pretty awful. The only team with any money was alone at the top the entire time with a far superior car in every category unless it happened to rain, then it got a little closer. There was a safety car in almost every race due to half the field being ride buyers with no talent, talk about poor driving standards.

Thank god that Speed is actually airing some racing content over the winter! I was fearing we would be getting shows like Pimp my Ride all winter...
