See, no wonder why pre-race shows suck. It's like making Vince Welch commentate the Daytona 500.

Screw you for making me looking forward to the Waltrip Brothers in the same on-track studio. I can't stand Vince Welch doing anything that involves commentary.

No. Just no FOX. There's a long line of people who would fit better. Personally I think Mikey does an okay job in the Trucks. I'm guessing his driving career is now totally over? No more one off starts? (Daytona, Montana, etc).

IMO the current Hollywood Hotel setup works fine. Why break what works?

I have always found Darrell entraining, but Fox is flirting with over doing it. Too much just gets annoying after a while and they will get people tired of him (sounds like they already have looking at this board). Having Mikey there might just put him over the top, I though Hammond always did a nice job of evening it out.

Also, I think it's a little weird to have an team owner as a part of the TV production. I thought Brad Daugherty was on line but at least he is just a part owner. How is Mikey going to give commentary on his own operation if something happens there.

NASCAR has always blurred those lines but a majority owner my be a conflict of interest.

^Darrell's struggled with that as well...decidely pro-Jr. adn pro-Toyota.

I'll never forget when I lost my last ounce of respect for DW as a commentator...the 2008 Daytona 500, when he way, way, waaaay too giddily exclaimed on the last lap, something to the essence of "Oh! Toyota drag race! Toyota drag race down the back!"

Michael is also just a part owner. Rusty Wallace on the other hand owns his whole team (as far as I know).

But he is the majority owner right? Just guessing since it's called Michael Waltrip Racing.

I tend to just tune Rusty out, so anyone want to clarify if he's neutral about/to Steven?

^Neutral? Steven? No!

Neither is the rest of the NNS booth...look at when SWall took out Leffler at Nashville and they all called it a 'racing incident' even though the 66 clearly turned right. And at ORP, when SWall obliterated the 62 and 40 after he spun himself slowing for a wreck...and Wallace and Craven said that Buescher nudged him into the wreck...even though that clearly wasn't the case. Unbiased? Not at all...

I find it kind of funny that alot of people who are complaining about the switch are also people who have stated in the past that they dont even watch the pre-race shows. At this forum? Go figure...

Nonetheless, I think Michael is a great personality just like DW and he is extremely knowledgeable when it comes to racing. He also genuinely gets excited like DW and thats something I appreciate. I dont care for the type of commentators that act like robots doing a job in coporate America. I like to see them get jazzed up because they are real race fans and are enjoying whats going on.

The only downside, I'm assuming that means Mikey wont be running the 500. That would be pretty disappointing to me. Ever since he retired I would really look forward to seeing him strap back in for the plate races.

At least now he won't be a nuisance in the 500 who takes out the underdogs like Brian Keselowski and the frontrunners like Gordon, Kenseth, Martin, Biffle. His presence on track will never be missed by me.

Are you Clint Bowyer? XD Every driver has caused wrecks before including your precious Jeff Gordon!

Yeah but every driver in NASCAR has wrecked atleast once because of a Michael Waltrip mishap. That is one thing I can actually agree with Clint Bowyer on XD.
