Everyone's getting G27s n stuff, but is there any good wheel out there that won't feel like a shot in the heart when it comes to money?

The market is slim, try a Logitech momo or g25. But I recommend g27.

This is my modified g27, with SLI-PRO and sparco racing products and I have to say it is probably the best wheel I have ever used.

cheap wheels equal cheap results. Go with quality if your planning on using it for a long time, its a necessary investment for sim racing.

nns, what size wheel is that, how difficult was it adapting to the g27 mount? This is the longer shift knob i made for mine.

Cheap and good do not go together. I would also avoid Ebay for use wheels. Out of all the things I buy used. Electric stuff, and major car parts. Are not no matter what. I will never buy used. I sure has hell would not buy if I could not see them.

I would just suck it up. And buy a G27 or a thrust master.

I've won dozens of online races in 5 different leagues with a MOMO, and I know plenty of other guys who are way more successful than I am who also use MOMOs- I also know lots of guys who spent hundreds on their G27s, but stink up the track every week and can't win to save their lives. I can't stress this enough- the wheel you use has such almost no effect on outright speed. I've run test laps at with a friend's G27 and my MOMO, no speed difference. Now, that said, would I like a G27? Yeah, cause it looks cool, and will probably last longer than the MOMO, which has notorious reliability issues. Do I think it will help my performance? Not at all. Buy a wheel in YOUR price range, and let your skills show on the track- you may find yourself outrunning them guys who spent thousands on custom rigs and wheels.

Its a sparco 325 wheel with a sparco techno shift knob, you need to buy a adapter for the wheel, I got mine from DSD but they went out of buisness I think. Just don't buy from chilicoke. It's a scam.

I bought a Thrustmaster F430 for around 140 on amazon. The pedals are miles better than the momo or DFGT ones. It's a good wheel. I do sim racing more casually so I didn't want to break the bank and I'm happy with my choice.

Don't get a DFGT wheel if you feel the need to go cheap. I have one and its riddled with problems. In fact, a wheel is something you should never cheap out on.

I was going to just machine an adapter to fit the logitech mount on one side and the new wheel on the other side. But I am finding plenty of cheap ones on the net now, might go that route. Does your setup seem like its adding anymore stress to the internal gears?

You made a good choice there. There is no way a machine shop, or I could make one cheaper. To even hit the 100-200 dollar range. A shop would need at lest a order of about 15-20.

Here's the bottom line if you want to stay under 200 dollars you have two options Logitech DFGT or Thrustmaster F430.

After that you jump to Logitech G27 and Fanatec's line of wheels save a couple. That level will be between 200 and 300 dollars.

Then you start getting really expensive. Thrustmaster T500rs and Fanatec's CSW. These run over 500 and in Fanatec's case will get close if not over the 1000 mark.

Then you get into the super expensive wheels by ECCI and Frex. There you're looking at thousands just for the wheel.

You don't want to "skimp" on a wheel but you don't want to go over your price range. The cheapest wheels out there do have their pluses and minuses but over all the research I've do they're good starter wheels.

I went from the Logitech MOMO wheel to Thrustmaster F430 and the pedals are quite a bit better. The brake is similar to the stock G27 brake pedal. The wheel only gets 270 degrees of rotation but for NR2003 you really can only go a little over 360 anyway. I really hope this all helps some but really do as much research as you can there are a lot of sim racing sites that do reviews on these kinds of things.

I have a few milled aluminum wheel adapters already, just a matter of plotting the holes to be drilled out correctly. Figured I could just throw them on the drill press but seeing as I can pick one up for under 40 bucks online with a guaranteed fit, why waste a good piece of my own hardware.

I am going this way, COMPONENTS

The Thrustmaster Ferrari GT Experience is a good racing wheel,

It's about $49.99 if remember correctly, It was a very affordable wheel for me. :)

I would not buy a Thrustmaster combo, had 2, both were junk and had some friends say the same.

Riddled with problems like what? I heard it was just the upgrade to the DFP....I just ordered a DFGT.

Phantom braking when the pedals idle is the biggest one. I also have occasional problems with the timing in the force feedback. Also a good amount of wheel vibration (a small amount isn't a problem but it gets bad once in a while). And lastly the shifter is a pain in the ass if you try to race on manual.
