Report: Cheez-It Secures Sponsorship of the Sprint Cup race at Watkins Glen (Credit to Finger Lakes Daily News):
Watkins Glen International and Kellogg Company announced Tuesday that Cheez-It®, the iconic snack brand, has signed a multi-year agreement to be the title sponsor of The Glen’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race. The Cheez-It 355™ at The Glen weekend is August 8-11, 2013.
“We are excited to welcome the Kellogg Company and Cheez-It® to the Watkins Glen International family as our NASCAR event weekend sponsor,” Watkins Glen International President Michael Printup said. “This partnership adds another chapter to our rich racing history and provides an array of opportunities for all involved. I have no doubt our fans will benefit the most during our Cheez-It™ 355 at The Glen weekend. We look forward to DRIVING>>History together with the Kellogg Company and Cheez-It® for years to come.”
This is the company’s first race entitlement sponsorship, although the Cheez-It® brand’s parent, the Kellogg Company, has been involved with NASCAR since 1991.
“Cheez-It® is all about supporting the real fans that love to show passion and dedication for their favorite sport. We know this loyalty exists among NASCAR fans, so this is the perfect opportunity for us to show our support for the fans and build on our successful partnerships in motorsports,” said Todd Penegor, President of Kellogg U.S. Snacks. “We are proud to be the title sponsor of the Cheez-It™ 355 at The Glen -- a one-of-a-kind event at an iconic venue.”
Cheez-It™ 355 at The Glen is the marquee event of the August 8-11 weekend at Watkins Glen International. Racing starts Saturday with the NASCAR Nationwide Series Zippo 200 and continues with Sunday’s Cheez-It™ 355 at The Glen. Run under the title Finger Lakes 355 at The Glen in 2012, “355” signifies the distance of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race 90 laps for 220.5 miles in kilometers.

Roush Fenway Racing's Carl Edwards will be looking to add a Sprint Cup victory at the track to his 2012 Nationwide win. Edwards will be piloting the #99 Cheez-It Ford Fusion for the race.
