complete newbie....need as much help as possible

Hey guys,
I want to start creating my own renders, but don't even know what program to use. Is there a program that is affordable to use? I don't see shelling out $500 or more just to do few car renders. Also, where can I find a detailed tutorial for someone like me who doesn't have a clue where to start?

Ten0r is a good place to go for renders, but there are only those certain renders. They aren't customizable, though.
What I'm busy doing is trying to get together 3DS MAX 9 with the Brazil plugin, and I'm new to that, too. Don't even know how to install the plugin correctly. So if anybody can walk me through this, thanks.

ok, I installed 3DS MAX, now...how do I activate it and not make it a trial? I installed this before, would it still be activated?

You might want to check out a program called Blender. It is a 3D modeling, animation, and rendering program that has features similar to 3ds Max. It currently doesn't import .MAX scenes, but it does import files in .3ds format. You can also install external rendering engines similar to Brazil for 3ds Max, one of which is called Yafaray. Best of all, Blender is free. It's what I currently use, and the latest version is 2.49b.

As far as tutorials for Blender are concerned, there are a ton of them on YouTube. Or, you can simply use Google to find the tutorials you're looking for.
