This is partly NR2003 related but not, so I didn't quite know where exactly to put this. Recently, well moreso for awhile I've become upset by the performance of my computer, from not being able to run 3ds Max, to NR2003, and even Photoshop at times getting slow and laggy for me. Before I go anywhere into discussing this, can you guys let me know exactly, down to the point, what I need to post about my specs and what not before we dive into what I should do about my computer? I really want to get this all figured out from you guys since you know what makes NR2003 go the best.

Not really, if worse comes to worse I can just work on saving money and get to the point I'd need to get to.

The Athlon processor is what is really in your way and it looks like that's a mother board made by nVidia? I'm not sure on that.

I'll check out my motherboard here in a bit and see if it's by nVidia. So you think past the processor, that the graphics card can run the game well?

Try defrag

I've done that in the past, and it's helped briefly but that's about it. I just need something that will run games better in general.

Also, kind of a bump, but I'm still wondering if anyone has any ideas still.

CCleaner - PC Optimization and Cleaning - Free Download

Use this to make sure the registry is clean, wipe away temporary files, and control what programs run at startup. Should give you a bit of a boost. If you've already used this, try un-install and re-install your browsers and lose any toolbars, un-necessary add-ons you might have running background processes. Back up your bookmarks first.

1.8 gHz processor is going to be slow with Photoshop, don't know 3ds max, but you should be pretty smooth with NR2003.

One question. Graphics Card: nVidia GeForce 6150SE NForce 430 - Is this a PCI video card or onboard graphics?

I believe when I opened it up, it was already attached to the mobo. I can see the image of the inside of my computer in my head, how would I know for sure if it's attached to it or not?

Judging by your specs, I think you may have a bottleneck with the FSB(front side buss) speed. Most motherboards with that speed processor, are around 400mhz. No matter how much memory, or what video card you use, it cannot go faster than the FSB will allow.

Start by picking a new motherboard with at least a dual core processor, 800mhz FSB, and make sure you use memory that is also high speed. Pick at least a 512mb video card that is not integrated into the motherboard. This will give you great graphics in N2K3. Anything above this will improve your FPS(frames per second) while racing with a full field.

What I did if your computer is getting slow is number one download a cleaner, CCleaner is my recommendation.
Then since you only have 2 gigs of RAM your computer is going to be slow so I also recommend that you buy more RAM (I have 8 and my laptop is crazy fast but I have had friends that had 16 and you would not believe how much **** they can do at one time)
But other than that a good antivirus (Webroot) should clear any standing virus' in your computer and I don't like McAfee just because generally they have the most annoying notifications and they scan EVERY thing you download so Mods and other add ons might be a ***** to download.
But if your computer is older than 7 years I would think it would be better to just build a new one and if you decide to go down that route, New egg has all you will need to build one or even buy one and they build it for you for pretty cheap.
Good Luck!

1.8 Ghz CPU is just awful. Your GPU is a chip on the motherboard, and 2 GB of ram today is also bad.

No software is going to make your PC fast. All the things you are trying to do today exceed the power your PC has.

Save $600 and build yourself a decent PC. Or, save $1,000 and build yourself a good PC that will last you awhile. Also, do not buy a PC from a company, buy parts and put it together yourself. It's really easy.

^ Not always true, I have a 16GB (With /Swap) Asus with 1TB of HDD Space that I couldnt be happier with! I think you just have some pc-company complex. Which is odd coming from me, a devout Windows hater.
(In all technicalities, my PC has 32GB of ram, but that gets into how linux uses space)
You'd be surprised how much faster a computer runs when its off of windows, of course I wouldn't suggest that for the OP here since he doesnt seem to have much technical prowess, and getting Wine to work can be a pain.

Well yeah different OS's can optimize your hardware for sure but what I'm saying is true. His PC was good back in the day but trying to run newer applications that require more power just sin't going to work. He can defrag, cclean all day but at the end of the day his PC just can't do it.

Well yes, but im against building your own, especially here where he has no technical knowledge whatsoever beyond the standard.

I learned how to build a PC when I was 13 by reading online tutorials.
