This is a tutorial on how to create custom backgrounds for NR2003.

I will give you a preview on what will happen if you have followed the steps below.

If you followed the steps on making a custom menu screen, this is the result:

And if you have followed the steps on making a mainback screen, here's the result:

Let's now get started!
(Note: You will need WinMip2 for these tutorials. Get it here)

*****Making a Custom Menu Screen*****
1. Create the background you want in any picture editor(photoshop, paint shop pro , etc.). It should be in 800 x 600 resolution, and it must be in .tga format.
2. Open that .tga file with WinMip2. On the top right corner, choose the file type you want it to be(.tga , .bmp , .stp , or .mip) and its quality(1 to 11).

3. Save it into an .stp file, then rename it to bkgrnd.stp .
4. Go to the layout folder on your NR2003 directory/root folder. Create a folder named bkgrnds , and paste bkgrnd.stp inside that folder.

5. Start the game, then select Player Info, then you will see the .tga file you made as the
background.

=======================

*****Making a custom Mainback Screen*****
1. Follow steps 1 and 2 on the previous tutorial.
2.Save it into an .stp file, and rename it to mainback.stp .
3. Paste it to any mod folder (ncts09,SprintCup,gns,cup, etc.).

4. Go to the mod's screen, and you will see the .tga file you have made.

--------------------------------------------------

Note: If you experience errors in WinMip2 while converting files, try downloading Sandbox, then find these three files:

rts.dll
makemip.exe
makestp.exe

(the .exe files can only be opened by use of command prompt, and WinMip2 uses it like a plugin)

Paste the three files on the same directory as WinMip2.exe .

Hope you learned a lot with this tutorial.

:)
