so I have been leaning back into my art background as I finish up my fine arts degree. Tattooing isnt really meshing with my current life at the moment. So I have deiced to do a limited series of NASCAR prints done in ink and minimal color (my style). I do a full free hand light sketch with graphite's, then I work in black CLEAN ink lines before adding varying shades of grey to define and shadow. I end with adding colors unique to the scheme. I started the first one today for myself and got the basic layout done and I am ready to get some ink down now so I attached a picture for you guys to check out the early layout. The prints will be done in around 34''x 26'' maybe a bit bigger, close to poster size. If your interested in having one done PM me and we can discuss what you want and need. I ll post some better pictures of the final product soon as i finish it up also.

Looks like a good start to me. If I was closer, I would have you do one for me.

I'm having a 'meshing' dilemma too. Ciao

Finishing up your Fine Arts degree?

I'm not even close to, "...finishing...".

I struggle with the University level English.
i mostly gots the caps coverd thoe theirs to many esays. lol
You must have accumulated an impressive portfolio. Why not present a few completed pieces for our enjoyment? Not that I'm not thoroughly enjoying your car.

Forgive me c.c , but you're really missing an opportunity. Ignoring the 700+ members who have checked out your profile, might lead them think you have nothing to offer.

I have some beginner level conte, and charcoal pieces, in my profile. They're not, "...free hand...". Mine are freehand (trompe l'oeil is my 'style' -- so they tell me). Many are on art board. Handy. Not that anyone suspects I trace. I can't draw for crap, but I'm getting better with the erasers. No arteest. Just like to draw.

You're going to really enjoy the Fine Arts' terms component. Curious your faculty has apparently left it to the end of your program. My program? First day, and every day since. Stuff like; neutral greys, complementary colors, commissions, & chit/chinola.

I think we're a little too far apart as well. Sorry, no sale. :)

No sale anyway, I am not selling anything. I dont pander my artwork, unless your going under the needle, but thats me usually sticking someonelses work on you anyway. Which I hate. That post wasnt very clear on what I am trying to do, thank you Budwieser. Sense I have had a day to ponder what I want to do I think I have it narrowed down, in reality I want to just get to working with ink and paper again. I was just looking for some people to get behind me and push the motivation to do other cars that normally wouldn't interest me.My new plan is to commemorate the 2011 Championship battle between the 14 and 99. Just one piece and do a small run of 20-30 prints. We can do some kind of contest for them, maybe even award some for the pick um championship or something. I really just want to get some work done and get my ambition back on track. But its not worth me investing with the printer if theres no real desire for this to be done. I would eat the printing cost just to have my work go to someone that won it in the fun of NASCAR. Shipping would be up to the winner though. I would enjoy giving something back to the NR2003 community.

I am 31, been at it for awhile. Been bouncing form Community Colleges and State Colleges for the last few years and took a 8 month break to go to UTI recently. I am really not as close to finishing as I should be.

Nah, my portfolio isnt as stacked as it once was kinda why I need to do stuff like this to build it back up. Most of my paper work was done before the digital revaluation and my ex wife owns almost all my stuff now. when I started tattooing I only focused on learning how to tattoo which ment I was doing a lot of flash and not much original work. Unfortunately tattooing is not the same as drawing where all your work is your own. Unless your extremely good you dont take to much creative risk in tattooing. So my portfolio as far as my own work hast grown to much over the last half a decade or so. But I did attach a few tatts that were more my originals than others. I think I threw one of my last paper works I could find too. Most if this stuff is a few years old, so be kind.

Nice job on the car man! Nice bit of detail in there. I would have liked it better if it wasn't a Roush Ford. :p

I like the car! If only a Carl Edwards fan (or even Carl himself! lol! :p ) saw that and wanted to get a smaller tattoo version of that!

Had some free time this morning to do a color test and clean up some lines.

Ive been really busy but I wanted to keep this alive before I start pushing it off to stuff I start and never finish land. I had some time this morning to sneak in and work on it some more. I almost have the base down. Its taking so long because I just dont have time to stay on it for more then twenty or thirty minutes at a time, plus its a lot bigger than it appears in pics.

So I just walked by my desk for the first time in a few weeks to draw up something for a client and saw this damn 60 car still taped to it. I forgot all about it sense I haven't had to physically draw anything complicated for awhile. I am going to try and get it done and out of my way this week.
