Hi everyone,

I tried to find an answer in your forum ("search" function) but did not find it.
I would really like to understand why the Sprint Cup mods are released with Cup AND CTS physics?
What is the difference between the two versions?

And then... What is the best to simulate real Cup cars? :D

Thank you very much,

David

They do that because I believe it's easier to handle the cars in .CTS physics instead of. CUP physics I think. The CTS physics are also considerably slower than the CUP physics, therefore the CUP ones would better simulate the actual cars.

Just like PepsiRacer said, this is usually the way it is but some mods are set specifically to certain physics such as the NNS CTS mod here.

.cts - trucks
.gns - nationwide
.cup - cup series
.pta - trans am (usually, like Indycar, F1, GT cars etc)

It's just like in real life, obviously cup physics will be the fastest and possibly more hard to handle compared to something like cts or gns where you may not even have to lift in corners because there speed / handling is so different

From what I've heard is that mods with CTS physics often times provide better racing versus the same mod with Cup or GNS. Could be wrong about that though.

Thank you very much. I already knew teh specs and in-game specs of the different series. I was just looking for which physics was the most similar to real NASCAR Sprint Cup physics...
I remember some drivers preferred the CTS physics, but it was slower than CUp physics...
Eventhough, on Charlotte revamped tracks, for the same AI strength %, CTS physics are faster than CUP physics... I guess it's in the track.ini at ai_grip_modifier line or something like this... But I was intriguished by such results...

One thing I find very notable with CTS physics versus Cup physics is the strength of the draft. I've not done a ton of testing with it, but I believe you get closer racing via the CTS physics simply because the draft becomes very important on even 1.5 mile tracks. I dunno, I don't really care for the CTS model except on short tracks. For example, the 88Aero mod uses the CTS physics engine. When it comes to short track racing the 88Aero produces some great great races. On 1.5 mile tracks such as Charlotte...Texas...Atlanta... it ends up being like mini daytona/tally races. It could simply be in the Track.ini files that causes this... I stick to the Cup and don't do testing in the CTS/GNS much at all...but I'm not entirely sure!
